Rolex for sale on a cruise ship
This is my first real cruise and I have to say, so far not loving it. I'm on the carnival pride out of Baltimore heading to the Bahamas. Ther are selling a bunch of old Datejusts and daydates. I looked at 18038 9mil serial champagne dial aftermarket sapphire crystal that they claimed was independently authenticated. They were asking $29k US but would give me a break and sell it to me for $22,500. I had to bite my tongue to not laugh in his face. I should start selling my watches on the boat. I'll make a fortune. Anyone encounter anything like this before?

I forgot to mention that it's not the Rolex sales that is making he cruise bad. We've been in rough weather for two days now and just about everyone is sick. Someone got sick outside of my stateroom and it's taking the crew too long to handle it.

I recall a thread talking about this before. Never done a cruise before and you're confirming my thoughts.
Regardless, have fun |

Thanks Tom. I'm having fun with my family and my friend and his family but the kids are bored. My wife is seasick. Just a rocking barel of monkeys on the sea. My son and his friend are literally bouncing off the walls. So much so that they almost broke the sprinkler head. Next time we fly. Hopefully the weather will be nice when we hit the Bahamas in the am.

With the exception of taking the QM2 to England....I have ZERO desire to do a cruise.

This is yet another reason for me not to cruise.
Make the best of it, I'm sure there's lots to see and do. |

Just came back from a cruise and loved it. The Rolex prices on the boat were laughable. The prices in St. Thomas were not bad however. Given I am Canadian it wasn't for me as the exchange kills it, but in US$ the prices were not too bad.

Work dates willing, we'll be trying our first cruise in April - Singapore to Dubai on the QM2.
It's taken me 10 years to persuade the wife, so it better go well. I'm hoping the chance of wearing posh frocks every night for 10 days will keep her happy. |

Take the next cruise out of one of the Florida ports.
Something tells me you will have a better time. |

I've been on many cruises, and enjoyed them all. Actually met my wife on one in 1997!! I know it's a little late, but I wouldn't recommend Carnival... Good Luck and try to enjoy!

Used Rolex on a ship is a bad idea. Hard to verify as you can't really even go anywhere for a second opinion.
I guess you can take really good photos and send them here for the pros here to comment! BUT the internet cost on board the ship would clean you out. |

Living in central Florida my wife and I have been on many cruises. Last year was the first one that had Rolexes for sale. Like you, I found the prices ridiculous.

Just like watches, with cruise lines you must be selective. Carnival???...the Invicta of cruise lines. Like a floating WalMart at sea. Try something much higher end, like a Crystal cruise. A completely different experience.

There's a pretty big front passing east off the coast from Maine down to Florida. Probably just bad timing.

I love cruises. If we don't charter we do Disney now and have been for the past 3 years. Probably 6 cruises on Disney during that time. Before that it was always Royal Carribean. Maybe 10 cruises with RC. I love bad weather and rough seas. I am a boat person so I am in my element. Everyone views cruises differently. We always leave out of Miami and spend a few days before and after the cruise in town at a hotel.

I love Carnival, younger crowd and we always have a great time even when the weather is bad. Its hard to believe they sell used Rolexs on the ship. Talk about a sucker born every day!

We've cruised quite a bit and we love it ... but we fall into the age bracket that's typical for cruise ship passengers. I didn't enjoy cruising either when I was young (under 50). Sorry you've had some unpleasant weather. I've never seen used watches for sale on any cruise ship yet.

I was also on the Pride during the 2015 Christmas vacation. I could not believe the asking prices but assumed anyone that won big in the casino probably wouldn't think twice about buying one.

My wife and I have been on 19 cruises. Needless to say, we love them, but they're not for everyone. Hope you try it again some day with better results.

Small ship cruising is the bomb. SilverSea or Seabourn.
6 Star experience and more like being on a big yacht than a cruise ship. |

I cruised out of Miami on the Norway back in 1993 and man, I was in bed for the first 12 hours sea sick.. So I know what you mean.. Rocking and Rolling indeed.. Those watch prices are funny.. If one watch is sold per cruise then they are cleaning up on clueless buyers

My fiance and I love cruising, but that's probably because we love binge eating and playing some table games.
That said, pretty much all the jewelry and duty free items are there to take advantage of the uninformed. |
