Icon8 2 year old 114060 keeps breaking

Already 2 trips to the service center low power reserve and crown stem got broken for no reason, never dropped, watch still in mint condition less than 2 years old.
Should I sell it and get something else, I'm tired of that unreliable junk.
Rolex should give me a replacement or extend the warranty, I don't want to have another trip and wait and pay service money as soon as warranty expires.

Wow that definitely does sound not typical to Rolex, and VERY frustrating! Manufacturing defects can/do happen, but surprised that issues keep popping up. Doesn't Rolex warranty the movement for 2 years when serviced at RSC? Wouldn't go as far as calling it complete junk, but sounds like it might be time to move it and move on. Good luck getting this sorted out, it'll all work out in the end.

Do I hear a SD4K in your future?

1st one that I got from that ad had a chipped crystal from under and replaced it after refund and now this disaster of a watch, I cant believe I paid £5000 for that
how did it pass the quality control do they employ blind people at rolex?

no i didn't, they said at the service center that something got loose inside and took it in.

1st watch was returned on the next day so I don't have any photos, this one is sent for servicing as there is trouble with the winding crown, watch stops and unable to set time.

As stated above...they are mass produced and occasionally there will be issues but to have continuing issues after service is extremely unusual...sell it and buy from a reputable seller here

I feel your pain, my Omega Aqua Terra has gone back two times as the first time they did not fix the issue. Now it is perfect, and I am a happy camper. These things happen, it is a great watch and as you can tell from forum posts, most people do not have issues with new Rolex models. Hang in there if you love the watch, it will be worth it to wait ... again...

Ouch, that sucks. Sounds like you may have gotten a lemon. These exist in any mass production line. Maybe sell it after the watch has been fixed and move on to another reference or a bnib piece.

That's too bad, sounds like a lemon for sure. I know how that can shake your confidence, I once bought a AP Panda brand new from AD and it lasted 24 hours - stopped, then the bracelet broke in my hands. Doesn't make a great first impression - Dealer replaced it with a new one but it really freaked me out about the brand... Best of luck!

yeah it did shake my confidence in the brand, I no longer want any expensive watch, from what I see its not worth paying 5 grand and upwards for a mediocre product that needs expensive maintenance and is so fragile.
in the past 2 weeks I had to take 2 full day trips to rolex centre and I'm still without a watch. they told me its all fine a week after crown breaks and that's a submariner supposedly one of the toughest watches.

A Rolex isn't for everybody.. G Shock makes an excellent and durable product.

Would totally agree - they are not for everybody, and if someone is looking strictly for value for money and heavy durability etc, there are easier and less costly routes to go down. The same could be said for a lot of other expensive high end products however. Even given the Rolex excellent design and construction, I would still show them a lot of respect in general use. That said, the OP seems to have been very unlucky with that Sub - it can be put right and hopefully won't put him off altogether.

A Submariner isn't more shock resistant or made from tougher movement parts than any other Rolex. It has a case designed for higher water resistance, but that's where it ends. Lots of assumptions are made-up about this issue, that one thing (WR) translates to another ("ruggedness"), but that's just wishful thinking and hopefulness based on Rolex marketing imagery.

Sorry to hear you got a lemon. If you want your faith restored in spending that kind of money and getting quality well above the price, pick up a Grand Seiko. They really have no equal when it comes to quality/value-per-$ in the SS Rolex price range and examples don't leave their studio already buggered.

Bummer. But really, what you're going through is not typical for a Rolex. I've had troubles with Breitlings and Omegas but never an R. Best of luck.

ever heard of ferrari? rolex is about 1000 times more reliable yet both have the same distinction as cream of the crop.

When the watch is back from service.....sell it immediately and DO NOT buy another "expensive" watch.

Take the money and do something else with it.

I understand your frustration with your situation and with the Rolex brand in general.

I have never had an issue with any of my Rolex models, thankfully. But, I did have an issue with my first luxury watch 3 weeks after owning it. The company sorted the situation appropriately and has worked for the past 7 years or so. But that one experience has shaken my confidence in the brand to prevent me from buying another.

You've done plenty of flipping and own a few nice pieces, so I'm sure your quite familiar with the brands. I would try to off load this piece and look to another brand you have faith in.

If I was in your situation, I would always feel I had a time bomb (pardon the pun) on my wrist and would be counting the days until it broke again. I would never enjoy it again. There are plenty of worthy competitors to move on to.

I can understand your fascination with the brand, but I'm just sharing my experiences, my rolex is junk as its broken again after a recent visit to service center it was supposed to be 'all fine' that's what the man in the white coat said. I was too fascinated with it and thought its indestructible, tough and reliable but the bubble have burst.

I feel super bad for you bro.
Knock on wood, I've never had an issue with a Rolex, not once. All of my watches have different magnification on the cyclops though

My watch was supposed to be repaired within 10 days, phoned rsc and they said its going to be another 2 weeks because they are busy. 3 weeks ago they returned the watch to me saying there is nothing wrong with it when was making noise from the crown side of the watch when moved or slightly shaken. Later crown problem appeared it was stiff and no longer engaging to set time, no more noise from the watch. Never expected this from a new submariner that was barely worn over the 2 years. We will see how it goes.
