DIVER (strap) INCOMING!!! ;)

I've obviously got AP fever, so thanks everyone for bearing with my questions and incessant thread starting.

I'm super excited about this incoming strap though. Thanks to the many members who gave great advice and info, in not only acquiring this strap but also the watch.

With the addition of this strap, my Royal Oak Offshore "Grey Themes" became the configured watch I always wanted, with even more of my favorite color... of course, grey.

Here are the pics...

How it's meant to be for me but I don't like croc, especially horn back, prefer metal or rubber

But why do you say diver strap? It was meant for a diver? Am going in Paris soon was thinking of getting a new strap for my CE diver, was thinking white but I love grey, might get grey instead, white will be for summer, anyone know how to change the buckle on a rubber AP strap? On the case putting and taking off the strap is easy but just don't get the buckle part, if I did I could change straps more often and wouldn't have to wait to be at an AP AD to ask them to do it, having a buckle with each strap is ridiculous, that small piece of TI costs 400 euros, if it was 200 yeah but 400 come in, anyways any help will be helpful, thanks

Ok I juste sent an email to order the grey strap, wasn't thinking about it since a long time ago but your post just reminded it to me, and I think a grey strap would look very cool on the CE diver

Please don’t put a grey strap on the black and orange 15707 – it’ll look absolutely stupid. So too will a white one.
Your navy blue one is just about okay, but if you want to be funky in the summer months, get the orange one from the new chronos that were shown at SIHH, in January.

Changing strap and buckle involves nothing more than a screwdriver and 10 minutes, if you’re taking your time.

You think? Don't know I kinda like the black grey mix to be honest, maybe the white might be too much I do agree, but I think grey should be nice, for the orange that is a good idea, anyways next week I'll be in Paris I will pop in an AP dealer and try to see if ever they have orange straps how they look like, about the blue strap I have I prefer much more than the black, it's almost the same look but with a touch of originality, but of course it's just a matter of taste.

For the buckle since there are no screws I suppose you should need some instrument to spread it a little but not sure that it's so easy to do, anyways will ask them when I go there

Well I just read this article and not so easy, if just one screwdriver it will just turn on itself, here; http://www.watchprosite.com/?page=wf...803&pi=6846988

Hey Sorry haven't had much time to read through these comments lately. So here's the deal with straps. I actually just explained the breakdown and pricing in a PM to another member so I'm just gonna copy that...

Quote:
The grey strap I got is a diver strap. They also make a rubber strap for my watch in a few different colors thats not a "diver" strap. The difference in the straps is the way they taper. I'll include a pic to show you. The grey strap only comes in the "diver" series and unfortunately it requires a different buckle than the one that comes with my watch. But I love the look of the wider diver strap, so that's the route I knew I wanted to go. If you go with the "non diver" rubber strap the cost for the strap is around $200. The diver strap is about $300. The diver buckle is $364.

All the parts are quite easy to find. I ordered them directly from Audemars Service Center down in florida.

HEre is the OEM part list and pricing for my set up. Let me know if you have any other questions. Also see the attached pic which shows the difference in width from the regular offshore strap to the diver strap.

· 1 - BR.403.683.004CA- Grey rubber strap in regular length $291 each

· 1 - AD.0442.024.ST.R – 24MM steel tang buckle $364 each
Here is an image that shows quite well the width difference in the "diver" strap vs the normal ROO strap. Since you already own a diver with buckle, you should only need the strap to get going. I unfortunately had to buy both.

Lastly, I'd have to see it, but I think the grey strap would like cool on the CE Diver. Would have to see it mounted, or pictures at least, but grey goes with most color combos.

Thanks for the explanation, in France the diver strap is 300 euros and diver buckle 400 euros, that sucks you guys get them cheaper, don't get why...

I wrote to the guys who sold me the blue one and didn't get any response, maybe it's because the firs time I told them I had a diver without saying ceramic and since AP gives instructions not to "denature" the watches now that they know it's a ceramic they don't want to sell it to me, why in that case do they make them for divers and are ok to sell them to SS diver owners and not to CE diver owners??? That really kills me, the SS diver comes with black strap so putting a different strap is the same thing, or maybe they consider the ceramic to be special, when I tried to get it through the AP private showroom who sold it to me the director who I dealed with buying it gave me a definite no on the subject saying AP forbid it, that's why I had to go through another which now does not answer my emails, I hate when brands do this, like when you have the same model on bracelet and strap but can't change, because the fixation or lug width is different so impossible to do or at least someone needs to build special fixations and it'll cost a fortune, just for one example Patek 5726 but there are tons of them.

I juste wrote again to the ad who I got the first strap from, asking again for the grey one and for the orange one, didn't think of it but it would look cool in summer

I believe I had mentioned which model I owned once casually in the beginning of my email exchange with APSC. They really didn't seem to care. If you have any further issues PM me or email me and I'll order the strap for you and you can pay me back. Chadridv at gee mail dot com.

It does suck when brands get all weird about these things. I do understand to a certain extent why they'd want to keep track of everything but for you to deal with it they way you have is BS especially after spending this kind of $. Either way best of luck to you!!!

Thanks man, they just answered me asking me my serial number, I wrote them that I have the AP diver, which is in Paris in the safe, ok it's on my wrist but I don't want to take the risk of them not ordering it because it's the ceramic, which exists only in 42 so if they order a strap for the diver there can be no mistake, so we'll see if they are ok or not, if not then sure I will write you an email and send you the cash for the strap and fedex to France or Ukraine, thanks will keep you posted

Of course you know why – US prices don’t include local sales tax. Add on 20% and given the € is nigh on par with the $, the European prices are actually cheaper, net of VAT.

If I remember correctly, AP only charges sales tax when they ship to CA, NY and FL. Sales tax is 8.25% for where I'm at in CA. I don't think there are many places in the US with much higher sales tax than 9%. When I was looking to get the RG bracelet for my 15405 I was going to ship it to my buddy in Vegas to save the $1,800 in sales tax then meet him in Vegas and use the savings for gambling $$$.

I've actually always wondered how CA taxes compare to European countries. We have, federal, state, Medicare, social security, property, Obama care surtax, capital gains, Mello Roos, sales tax, etc. Then they have increasing break points and others have cutoff points. It's hard figuring out what you're actually paying.
