One Watch Explorer II 16570 or GMT BLNR

Just started looking at purchasing my first serious watch and I have been going back and forth at the local AD. Looking for a quality sport watch that I can enjoy for years and hand down to my new son. The BLNR has caught my eye but I'm not a flashy person and the numbering on the ceramic bezel look busy and the pcl's look to flashy. The new explorer II seems close but is too big for my wrist. Thought about the sub but last week but I sat down at a meeting and the other four poeple on the table were sporting one. Now I'm thinking the 16570 would be the perfect fit but need to see one in the wild. Of what's at the AD the BLNR seems the best option. Thoughts?

16570 for you then. I feel the same about BLNR that's why I flipped it (too flashy for me).

"Too flashy" #3 on all time favorite Rolex sayings.

OP I own both. I just can't stop wearing the BLNR. It's just a beautiful watch. When you can get both but the BLNR takes first. IMHO.

BLNR without question if you are going for only one watch. If you don't like the ceramic bezel or pcl's, look at the older GMT II. That's much more comparable to the 5 digit explorer II. Don't limit yourself to what's at the AD, there is a whole universe of watches out there, check the for sale listings.

Is this a real question?

BLNR by a mile.

Actually the one that you like and not the one we suggest.

Agree that the BLNR is a little too flashy, especially the PCLs. Go with the Explorer II 16570, as long as you don't mind a few dings and dents in the steel bezel along the way.

Explorer II if you want to fly under the radar. BLNR if you want (almost) everyone to know that you are wearing a Rolex.

Both are nice watches, I was considering the same when I got my first Rolex. I went with BLNR just thought it covered all the options nicely, from daily to slightly dressy it works.

16570 over the BLNR for me, either colour. In fact you should be able to get both of these for the price of a BLNR if you shop around.

Blnr all day. And that's coming from a 16570 fan. But you can but a nice polar in the 40mm for a few thousand less, if that is any consideration

But OP need to wait until November and save much more money to get it with no-date and no GMT functions.

Thank you for all of the great feedback!!! so glad I joined this community. As a new person potentially looking at a discontinued watch like the 16570, where would you suggest I look? Good online reputable spots or dealers? Cheers!

If you don't like PCLs then why spend double the $$$$?????? Sounds like you want the ExpII but I like the GMT personally.

Love my Polar 16570. Not very common in the wild and looks very inconspicuous. I'd go for that if you don't want flashy.
