A lot of happy wives here after the new Daytona announcement

I currently have SS white dial Daytona and have now fallen in love with the new Daytona C white dial. Called my AD and placed an order right away. I first thought about flipping, but the more I look at this situation, the more I think that SS and Ceramic models are two different watches to be used in two different occasions although my wife thought it is excessive. More importantly, I bought my SS Daytona when I had the first successful year running my own company so there is a milestone reason behind my watch.

Then the light bulb went on... what about giving my current SS Daytona to my wife? As long as she is happy with what she is going to get... she is still staying with me... and my watch is still staying with me.

Ironically, there are a number of posts here with the same idea!

This is a nice idea. One thing to keep in mind, now I don't know your wife obviously, but I know that if I gave my wife one of my watches or bought her a brand new one, there are certain things I'd have to be willing to let go.

She straight up treats her things and Jewelery different than me. For a while I used to critique her about where she'd leave her Rolex, or what position she'd leave it in. I got her a little Jewelery valet,m for her watch but she puts her diamond stuff in it and throws her watch in haphazardly with it all. She pairs crazy metal chain bracelets and bangles with her watch, and all day while she's moving about I can here the metals banging!!!

SO, my point is that I'm venting here, cause I can't really vent to her about it. She gets upset with me if I do. Her watch was brand new and was 100% intended to be her watch. If I gave her one of my beloved watches I'd be having an internal meltdown watching her beat the hell out of it!

But you will need to let this go and allow for the watch to really BELONG to your wife. Otherwise, It could make things difficult for both of you! Best of luck.

Well said and point taken. I will need to let my watch go to become her watch, but it will still be within the family.

Sounds like a great idea.

Personally, I think they are so different that they can happily coexist in any collection.

But I like to give stuff away so this seems like a win/win to me.

I gave my Tudor to my wife and that's when the whole "letting go" process all started. Although an antique, it meant a lot to me as it was given to me by my grandpa.

For some reason the older the watch it seems like the less visible the scratches and dings. I guess it's cause it's gone through so much, some of you might agree.

Without going off tangent, I like your idea and thanks for sharing! I now have a pretty good reason to get the new 116500! Guess who I'm giving my 116520 to?

I did the same thing with my 14233M. Gave it to her and then went out and bought a TT SUBc.

It's her watch now. I don't worry about what she does with it.

I tried to sell my wife on a TT Daytona and let her try on my SS White to get an idea how it'll fit on her wrist. She thought it was too big and masculine for her.

I totally agree with you. How anyone can fall in love with a watch and then flip it is beyond me because it it part of the history of your life.

Yes better to pass it on to your wife or kids and at least you will still have the pleasure of seeing it.

Regards

Mick
