Pinging sound when changing time of Sub-C

I noticed that when I changed the time of My 116613LB, it makes sort of a "pinging" feeling through the stem. Is this normal?

Well clockwise it's the direction to forward the hands/set time. I don't have your model sub, but I'm sure someone that does will chime in shortly. Is it new? Any service history?

The pinging is active sonar.
Not used today with the exception of determining range or to collude discretely underwater with the enemy.
See Hunt for Red October.

Seriously though, your watch is a complex mechanical devise.
No two make the exact same sounds or noises but some are similar.
From what you describe it may be totally normal.

I have had lots of Rolex watches over the years and no two were the same.
The sounds and feel when winding the crown of individual watches even changed after servicing. Don't panic and if in doubt take it to your nearest dealer to get a second opinion.
Hope this helps.

Certainly understand that. Thank you for the input. Just seemed a little odd and not owning one before, the mind begins to race. Really just making sure I'm not furthering any damage.

Pinging? That's something I've never heard before... I've wound/set thousands of Rolex watches.
I wish I could feel it. Are you in SoCal?

Sent from my phone.
