The thread I never expected to write.

So it took exactly 1 year and 5 months for me to take back the statement, "I have bought what I want to be my last Rolex". I'm sure you don't remember my story and Rolex journey so here is the old thread....

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=379438

Flash forward to present day. Ever since I have known what a Rolex is I have lusted over a Sub. It just beacons me, and as a boat captain and rescue diver it's the natural choice. But honestly they have always been just above my budget and just out of reach. One of my first Rolex memories was talking with my older brother who always wanted one (see other story) he was a state trooper that died in the line of duty a few years ago. I have always said the only Rolex I would ever get next would be a Sub. It's the model the I have always wanted and it would also be to honor him since he wasn't able to fulfill his dream of owning one. Last week I was looking and came across a mint 1997-1998 Sub 14060 that fellow member was willing to sell me head only that was in my price range. I got the ok for the wife and jumped on it. After my wife and I were talking she agreed that I should buy it complete now and we would make it work. Today Fed Ex showed up just before lunch with this......
(Thanks Justin S.!!)

Congratulations; love my 14060 (also T<25). Great classic!!! Currently have it on its cold weather leather NATO. One of the great things is its easy change nature.

Perry, congratulations, the 14060 is an absolute classic. I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your brother, this is a great way to memorialize him, you have to know that he is smiling down on you right now. I would think that every time you look at your watch he is there with you, looking too.
