Inherited my uncle's Rolex
About 3 months ago, my uncle, sadly, passed away after a 12 year battle with cancer. He and I were very close, and he was an amazing man. Taught me many things about life and what's important. He always had a smile on his face, even through his first, second, third and fourth times with cancer. Anytime he was in a room, the mood was always lifted because of his presence.
I'll miss him dearly. He did leave me something that is an amazing honor to have received and a great way to remember him - his YG Day Date President's, 1995 year. I sent it in for a servicing, as my dad said it hadn't been serviced since 2006, got it polished and engraved with his initials. I've worn it every day since getting it back in his memory, he certainly will be missed. RIP. And now for the part everyone has been waiting for, the pictures. In order, they are a shot of the watch on my wrist, a shot of the watch with my grandpa's ring, a shot of the watch with my dad's (and my uncle's brother) President, and finally a picture of the engraving. |

So said, but a great tribute to remember him by. Based on the engraving, your uncle passed away in his mid 30's and had been battling cancer since his early 20's. That's brutal, and he must of truly been special to leave his mark on you as he did.
I am curious as to how your uncle came upon this watch, as he would of only been 14 if he had it as a new watch. Heck of a gift at that age. thanks again for the great post, have not posted in awhile, but I had to respond to yours. |

My condolences on the loss of your uncle, he obviously made a great impression on you. Wear that watch proudly, you have to know that he is smiling down on you.
The engraving made me swallow hard, your uncle and I were born in the same year.

Really Touching story.
We had similar dates. My dad's President (same but with diamond dial), was bought on 1995. He passed away on 1996 and I sent it to service this year 2016. Almost decided to engrave also his initials, but stepped away last minute. Wear with pride in good health!

I'm very sorry for your loss. What a way to remember him.
I have been looking to engrave the casebook of my DJ for similar reasons. May I ask where you got that done? I really like the look. |
