Safari on a black rubber strap

Well I have made my decision. I am definitely going with the 42 mm for ROO Safari. I definitely want to put it on a black rubber strap most of the time so does anybody have some pictures of it set up that way? It would be much appreciated. I'll post pictures when I get it.

I think it would look better with the brown rubber strap from AP. My friend has a safari, and we mounted my black rubber diver strap on the safari and it just didn't look right. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of that experiment.

I was going to go by the APSC in Clearwater and by the black strap. So you guys are telling me that it won't look good on black?

Brown rubber is first choice on it!
White rubber is a second choice though!
Black rubber is so-so, definitely not great to be honest.

i would get a brown rubber strap first as well. I would try to stick to the original watch theme as much as possible.

If this is the older Safari it looks great on black rubber because of the black numerals and hands. Here's a picture from the web

I am really bad with shades especially in pictures. You're absolutely right. I did not catch it when I first looked at it. It is brown.

I have my friend, a trusted seller here looking for that very one for me. That is definitely the one I'll be getting now. It is black and has some red in it. It would look great on a black rubber strap. Thanks. I do not know what was wrong with me that I thought for sure the Safari had black in it not brown. I guess because I've never seen one in person. I am not very crazy about the color brown.

Judging color is difficult and can be subjective, especially since all of us have different phone and computer monitor settings, but I'm not aware of any brown rubber straps from AP. Even if it is you can tell that black would go well with an older safari.

AP most certainly made a brown rubber for deployant! Not sure about if they made a wider one for Tang buckle though (be it 24mm or 20mm in that config). But again definitely for deployant

Here's my Safari (Ref.26170) on both a ss bracelet, and grey themes horned back (you may have to look closely). The Arabics are definitely black, not brown. I think this Safari reference would work well on black rubber but IMHO it looks better on a bracelet or a grey horned back with black contrast stitching to compliment the black in the Arabics.

That is absolutely beautiful. That's exactly how I want mine to be. Well at least optional. I'm really hoping I can get it next week. I will keep you guys informed.

Good luck, it is an amazing watch I use it at least 90% of the time and love it.

Looks great above!
Is that a strap for 24mm Diver buckle, 20mm new Tang style buckle, or older 18mm deployant clasp?
And just curious - why do the lugs (closest to case side, not strap side), protrude out a little bit? I've seen that once or twice before, almost like the lug moves or rotates back & forth slightly. It is supposed to sit flush though, just saying!

It is an OEM made for ROO (clasp), the lugs move a bit depending on the position I have seen the movement even with the leather strap on some other watches so I guess it should be normal is it?

I would go for brown to bring out the lovely cream of the dial.

I am definitely going with the black dial. I love this piece but I wish the bezel was ceramic.
