Advice on Pocket Watches
I have always been fond of pocket watches, but to this day do not own one myself. Should I choose to buy one, what is a respectable brand to go with? I've been watching some Hamilton Railroad pocket watches on eBay, and was wondering if that was a good buy, or if there are other brands I should keep an eye out for. I'm not looking to spend a lot of money, and would prefer to stay beneath the $300 range. I'm not actually sure when I may use it, perhaps while golfing (I can't help but feel that my violently powerful swing does something to the inner workings of my automatics). Thanks in advance for any advice given!
This Hamilton is what I currently have my eye on. I love the case work/detail, and I would not want a pocket watch without it. I have a high level of detail on my wedding band, and I would love to find a pocket watch that somewhat complemented it. |

I am not an expert, but Hamilton is a well known brand name. Yours is a fine example and the price does sound right. I have several pocket watches that I received from my Grandfathers. They are both Elgins and the oldest is from the late 1800's. I love them.
