Watch Winder

I am new to this forum.

I bought a reconditioned Ladies Datejust last November, my first and only Rolex. Since I have had it, it has stopped working three times. The first time I could not get it to resume keeping time and it went back to the watch dealer for repair (he sent it back to his contact who was a former authorized Rolex repair person). Since I have had it back it has stopped twice while I have been wearing it. I wear it daily and am very active and assumed the activity would be enough to keep the watch wound. The watch dealer is suggesting I try a watch winder. I am not so sure this is the problem. I have a one year warranty with the watch dealer and do not want to be stuck with problems once the warranty runs out.

Wearing it daily and being very active should keep it running. Shouldn't need a winder.

Your dealer should know better.

Something is not right, send it back until it's repaired correctly under warranty.

I'm with the other posters in this thread - the watch needs servicing and/or repair, not a watch winder.

x2. I would also manually wind and see how long it lasts. If not around 40 hours, I'd make use of that warranty - forget about getting it serviced/fixed again. Your guy will send it to his "contact" again. Something doesn't seem right, IMHO.

It's not a watch winder issue it's a service issue needs some servicing attention.

I would first wind it 40 full turns and set it down in a draw and see how long the power reserve lasts.
If runs for 40ish hours I would then wind it and put it on my wrist and see how long the power lasts.

If it still requires you winding it even though you are very active then it would sound like something is wrong with the rotor that winds the watch based upon your wrist movement and it needs to be serviced.

I would do those 2 steps before sending it back again.

Wind the watch 40 FULL turns of the crown. Set the watch down someplace and don't touch it. Time how long it runs from wind until the watch stops. Power reserve should be around 40 hours or so. If it does not run for this long could be a broken mainspring. It will need a movement service.
