Old vs New
Had the pleasure of being in the same room as this Paul Newman Daytona yesterday. So we conveniently placed it on the Rolex newsletter with the new ceramic daytona on the cover.
Price comparison is obviously like comparing apples with the moon but I'd like to know which one you guys prefer. I vote Paul Newman. |

I prefer the modern refinements on the Daytona C. However, I prefer the panda dial of the PN version.

I prefer the PN, the design is just a classic and a lot more down to earth which isn't surprising as it was a tool watch! The new version is just too blingy in comparison.

The Newman is incredible to say the least but the new 116500 has everything I've wanted in a Daytona. Ceramic for me.

Panda dial and crosshair subdials are my dream, I would love this on a new ceramic at a reasonable, modern day price, made in platinum or rhodium would be fine.

PN by a country mile. The 6263 was nicer too than any modern Daytona.

Old. But I like that the new Daytona is an evolution of the original instead of trying to replicate it.

PN, without question. I am not a fan at all of the new C.
For one, the new C just looks like all the rest of the so many other ceramic watches being produced by other brands. It lacks anything outstanding, original or unique IMO. It's just another ceramic bezel watch, ho hum. |

If I'd choose a Daytona (which I wouldn't because it doesn't fit my taste) I'd go with the PN. I just can't get the hype about the Daytona's, I'm sorry.

If I was someone who could open up a vintage watch and service it myself, I would choose the PN.
I would really prefer the pre PN without screw down pushers. As I am not capable of the above I would choose the new model. :cheer:
