I'm trying to learn my vintage subs and I could use some help.

Which are the most desirable references and dial variations? Is older always better? Is a Mark I more desirable than a Mark II and 2 more than 3 (etc)?

Welcome to the world of Vintage!!
This will give you a good introduction to Red subs and their relative rarity.
And generally speaking Mark I's are more rare than II's and III's as you will see in the pie charts.

Oh and just to warn you....once you learn of the history of these watches and the little differences, you will become obsessed with them.
It's the part I like best, learning all the little stuff.

Check out the sticky for Beaumontmiller post. In general, condition n originality r paramount in vintage. Currently of the white variety, the maxis r hot.

I blame it on the autoconnect.
