Why I never see anyone with Daytona?

Whenever I see someone with a Rolex, it's usually the Submariner or the GMT Master II... maybe yachmaster 1....

how come I never see the Daytona? Is it because of the cost?

Thoughts?

Thanks.

Here's one. If you ever see me in the street, there's about a 16.5% chance that I'll be wearing a Daytona.

I've seen them in the city occasionally, one as recently as last week on 17th St and 2nd Ave. And another a few weeks ago at the food market on my block. Also, about a year ago at a bar on the upper east side a guy complimented mine, and I looked and he was also wearing a white Daytona.

They're out there, keep looking!

The simple answer is yes.

Because of the artificial scarcity of the stainless steel Daytona and prices that are typically 2x that of an easier to find Submariner or GMT, you've got the majority of people who can't find a Daytona they can afford and don't understand why they don't exist and why they are so expensive.

That said, I live near and work in Manhattan and while I see 10 Submariner's and GMT's and Explorers a day I still manage to see 2 Daytona's a week, they're not so scarce here.

Chaps

When I worked in London about 10 years ago, Rolex were as common as muck, you saw them on the wrist of every 30 yr plus middle manager upwards every day of the week. They usually bought them when they were paid their annual bonuses.

Surprisingly I have seen several YG Date Justs on the wrists of many doddery old men in Spain this week. Normally I only see the very occasional Sub.

Regards

Mick

PS - I have a marital problem, my wife wants me to buy a YG DateJust and I hate the things.

Rolexes in my part are fairly rare. In the past 2 years, I've seen a sub (think it was a 16610, think I might have seen a SS Pepsi, a 36mm DD, and I just saw some guy with a TT Daytona with the panda dial.

So I guess you could say it makes up 25% of the Rolexes I see...

I have to agree with you. My practice is in one of the more affluent suburbs of DFW and I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have seen a Daytona.
However, one of my patients has a black and a white model that I have seen him wear.
I see more DJ's than anything followed by Subs.

I saw one once while waiting for my watch at RSC in Beverly Hills. A gentleman came in to have his other watch looked at, showed me his Daytona. He looked surprise when I told him I flipped it because of the PCL.
