1675/16750 - Three new contenders
So I made a previous thread here about another 1675 where I got great feedback but the price is high (still negotiation on that). In the meanwhile, I managed to source the following three as well (I have posted the same images in the previous post but putting it up here again to get better responses).
Which of these is worth pursuing and (perhaps) eventually picking up? I've given the main details that I have but some of it is still coming in. Here are some other contenders thrown into the mix. A bit about each: Pic 1 - From 1984 (model 16750). Service date wheel (white) so no open 6 or 9. Asking 9k USD. Is the bezel correct? Seller says it is. I'm turned off by the date wheel colour but otherwise like it. Pic 2 - From vintageconcept. Asking 9.3k but assuming this is list price and can be negotiated. From 1972. Know very little else about this but have asked questions. Date wheel looks ok. Insert I don't know. Pic 3 - Also from 1972. Much lower price (8.5k). Can't tell properly but looks like replacement hands? Also, the bottom right lug looks unusually thin (or is it just me?). As usual, no idea about insert but seems replacement. Can't tell about date wheel but looks silver but have asked. Very reputed seller. So which ones would you prefer? |

At these pricing points, I would consider springer's 1675/16750. He has 2 on the For Sale section. Maybe it is worthwhile taking a look?

I've seen Springer's adverts. They are undoubtedly great looking pieces (apart from the price point) in great condition (and obviously reputation). My personal preference is for a dial with slightly darker patina. This realisation came in after my recent acquisition of the 5513 I now own. I love it to bits and can't stop wearing it but also find the idea of now getting a vintage with a darker patina more appealing for a second watch. Perhaps it's just the pics in the advert that make it look that way, I don't know.

I want patina too. Throw my Red Sub into the safe and hoping to see some patina develop. I totally understand the passion and desire for some good patina.

So I've managed to negotiate the price of the watch in the third pic to 7k USD with the jubilee bracelet. Can anyone help identify if the dial is period correct? It seems the hands and insert are replacements? Not sure. I've asked but still waiting for response...

Lug condition is not great, if he dropped 1.5k it's for a reason

We definitely need more and better photos to adequately comment on lug condition. You need to see a shot straight on at lugs without a bracelet mounted, and at various angles from sides and above to correctly comment and add value to the discussion.

Well just an update, the watches in pic 2 and 3 are now sold..so we just have 1 contender. The watch is in pretty good condition but I'm turned off by the ugly white replacement date wheel. I think the first 16750 (linked here) which is still available, is my top pick at the moment.

Unless I am mistaken, date wheels are not too expensive if he wont work with you to where you're happy with the price on that first one this could still be an option. |
