Help Choosing Between Platinum Yachtmaster or Blue/Gold Submariner - Pics Inside.
Considering these two watches. Both are local to me.
1st. A Yachtmaster S.S. Platinum 40mm, Circa ~ 2001ish (my guess) Price of $6200. No box or paperwork though. The watch is in perfect shape, fits my large wrist fine. Also comes with a watch winder. 2nd. A S.S./Gold Submariner, Box & Paperwork included. Condition a little bit rougher shape than the Yachtmaster. Price of $6100. Pics: Both have been serviced. Other watches in my collection are: A Nomos Ahoi A Grand Seiko Diver - Spring Drive Thoughts?? Is one more “valuable” or a better investment? -Adam |

For 6k you can get a used ceramic sub or gmt. 2001 YM? I just spent the same money and got a brand new in box Explorer two.
Keep shopping is my advice, find a better deal. If you are so in love with the Yacht-Master spend $2,000 more and buy a brand new one with a Sunburst face. Or get seller to lower cost to 5k flat. |

I would keep looking. The condition of the TT Blue Sub bothers me.

It's funny I would love that TT if I had beaten the crap out of it. It would be my pride and joy. No way in hell I'd buy it from someone else like that.

I had to make this choice, went with the Yachtmaster first and shortly traded it for the Sub. The plat bezel's easy scratching ability turned me off and I kept the Sub for several years.
That all being said this Sub is pretty rough looking, the YM sounds like a better buy. I would personally keep looking. |

Sub is too worn for my taste and I will never buy a modern piece without papers.
This YM being sold here is newer and full set for the same price. Also have heard good things about sohail. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthrea...ht=Yachtmaster |

For a TT that is in that shape without gold through the buckle...no way. Keep looking.
Price sounds a little high on the YM, too. If you really want the watch, I would factor in a reasonable service cost, as there is no service history and would give you paperwork going forward. So mid-5's would be my offer. |

116613, just not that one. It looks too beat up. For a just a bit more, you can find one in much better shape.

Which one sings to you? Choose that model and then go hunting, neither are rare pieces and that sub is rough, there are far better examples around for similar money.
The problem with shopping locally is you don't always get the best choices. Someone will say TRF Trusted Seller eventually, so I might as well be the first. |

Like most have already state I would pass on both. Check the sale forum there are much better examples available. I believe there is also a 16613 available in much better shape for not much more money than what you would be paying for the beat up one. Good luck

Ok ... great advice everyone. I did fall for one :).
Went back and met with the Jeweler (a close friend) ... looked over the Yachtmaster again, perfect shape, and he found the papers for it. Also gave me a nice price too. Here it is, I'm very happy with my decision!!!!! |

My vote goes to tt blue sub but you could get a better condition watch for that same price. This one sure was a daily beater for several years in a row, lol...
