Is there a "new Daytona" out?
I am wondering if and when a new Daytona Model is coming out? I know in the past few years they have changed a few things but when is everything changing???

Aside from the rose gold model just released, no. It will at least a year from now before you could get a "new Daytona" in terms of size and features. We'll see what Basel '09 brings the Daytona fans, if anything.

That is all we need, a New SS Daytona, the waiting list is growing as we speak.
I am now on the 25 year count down.

What did you trade for that beauty? I was debating white or black dial, but I have so many black dial watches that I went white dial. Congrats on the new Daytona!

Another Daytona.. What happened was I took my 1st one to a jeweler to polish. I for whatever reason had thoughts that the jeweler swapped my band and maybe something else but I wouldnt know unless I cracked the watch. So i checked the date codes on the band and the mfgr date of the watch and everything pretty much matched up. The problem was that every time I looked at the watch the question popped up in my head. Did he swap it? Did he open it? So in my opinion I was wearing a frankenstein watch. It was really getting on my nerves. So I took the watch back to the guy I got it from along with diamond bezel I dont need and a little on the card. Its really not about the money it about the fact that my favorite watch turned into my least favorite watch and it was killing me. Now I'm Happy...

Firstly, I got told and you know what 3rd hand reports are like!!! That its some sort of anniversary for the Daytona in 2010 so they may do something then??
Secondly, If you don't mind me asking, if you had so much misgivings about the jeweller why did you go there? I think that I would only trust my watch to an AD.

Here's what I heard from the licensed watchmaker at the AD I bought my Daytona from:
Pre- A: Not "anytime soon" as a matter of fact, he kind of led me to belive there are only drawing-board concepts right now. A: Bigger, either 42 or 44MM B: Different color scheme, I.e. the totalizer dials would be different (Thank goodness, maybe now I can see them). He wouldn't say, but I specifically asked about the 50th anniversery-green hand thing and all he did was grin... I took this as a "yes" but who the heck knows. C: Other then that, it looks the same as any Daytona today. I spoke to this watchmaker directly but he is a friend of a friend of a friend, and just started at the AD I purchased mine from. So, I can't attest to the reliability... but it kinda made sense with everything else I heard... They'll come out with the new one just when I get this one paid off... |

I don't blame you for taking it back to the same guy actually. He has to give you a good trade-in value or else he'll give himself away if he did indeed switch the band, and he would fear you taking the watch to someone else and getting a failing grade upon inspection.
