Is this a fake?

This watch was given to me and and I'm pretty sure it's a replica. Could someone verify by the pic below? I've never seen a Yacht Master in person. Sorry it's a little blurry. The marco mode on my P&S doesn't work that well. Thanks.

It was from a family member and could be real. I don't know enough about them to know for sure and I didn't want to ask (seems a bit rude). It doesn't have the laser engraved "Rolex" going around the inside of the bezel like I've seen in pictures posted here. Do all YM's have that?

i don't think the dial is supposed to be white - it should be in platinum.

Were there different options for the YM? The case is SS and, as you said, most of the models I've read about were all platinum.

The bezel is what is platinum and the rest of the watch is stainless steel. Can you take pictures of the band, clasp, back of the watch for us? Is the dial white or platinum in color? It's hard to tell due to the lighting.

Noonan if the face on that watch is white then no it is not real..again I don't wish to pry but would this particular family member give you an 8000.00 watch? That model as identified earlier would be stainless except for the face and bezel...hands and hour markers would be 18k gold...

If I'm not wrong, on the ss models, the color of the dial should be platinum. There are white and blue dials on YG or TT watches. To know if it's real, you need simply look at the financial status of your benefactors.

A genuine Yachtmaster has a platinum bezel insert, the bezel is stainless. The dial is also platinum. The watch pictured is not genuine, sorry my friend.

I'm not an expert on the YM but the dial is definitely wrong on many levels. Better photos from several angles would help but as others have said a look at the movement would probably be the clincher.

Thanks for the opinions all. I was pretty confident it was a fake to begin with.

You know, even though I'm pretty certain it is fake at this point, it's still starting to become my favorite "outdoors beater" watch over my Tag. The size and weight are perfect and the crown works beautifully. I can only imagine how nice the real one is.

Be careful you do not end up on the dark side..... a watch made to look like a model from Rolex is one thing... to have one that also has the Rolex name on it is a different matter...fake is FAKE..

I agree completely. I certainly would never try to pass it off as genuine without knowing for sure (and I think the consensus is that this is a fake). I can't seem to get the case-back off so I can't check the movement. But it gives me a good idea of what a watch I'll probably never be able to afford looks like on my wrist.

I just purchased a new Longines so that'll be getting all daily wrist time for the time being.

Ok, the dial is the wrong color, and that's all I can tell from the posted picture that is definitely wrong with it.

Dials can be replaced, though.

I'd pop it open and take a look at the movement. You may have a folex with some Rolex parts, or you may have a Rolex that's been modified with aftermarket parts.
