More Chinese Fakes
So apparently the Chinese faked some of the opening fireworks with CGI for the opening ceremonies. Now they reveal that a child singer was fake. The real singer wasn't cute enough, so the fake lip-synched.

I addressed this in a PM, and thought I should also do so here. My post is in no way intended to be disrespectful of the Chinese people or anyone of Chinese ethnicity. My problem is 100% with the government.

As for the CGI I hear they were gonna make Andy Murray look like less of an A$$ Clown and also that he could maybe play tennis...unfortunately the BBC's budget wouldn't stretch that far!

I'm not defending fakers, but I'm just saying......... The story about that little girl who won the singing competition is really sad though.

I don't think that is quite correct. The young singer wasn't lip syncing, she thought she WAS singing the song.

What's even sadder is the use of underage girls on their gymnastic team. There have been numerous studies of the negative long term effects on young girls involved in such strenous training at such an early age, mainly in the area of reproduction. However, the Chinese government has provided false ID's for these girls and no one has the guts to call them on it. I love the Olympics but I think it is a disgrace to allow this country to be the host. Almost akin to Hitler's olympics in '36 I think it was.

very sad that this is all 'acceptable' by the Olympic commitee. I like the world because it IS real.... I like the authenticity and reality that comes with watching a live ceremony... I dont need or want a 'digitally enhanced' opening ceremony or a lip sync singer to make this my best viewing experiance... The Olympics itself and the atmosphere does that all by itself.... IMHO... :-)

It is very sad, but should we expect anything else from a communist country especially the Chinese.

It's all about face with the Chinese. They have to look good no matter what. Their culture has evolved over many centuries with minimal input from elsewhere. Therefore to expect them to change overnight is ambitious. Given their dispostion with the handicapped, it will be interesting to see how the Paralympics fare e.g. coverage, crowd attendance, etc. In any case, it is probably the cheapest Olympics ever held as everything is / was..........MADE IN CHINA!!!!!

I just hope they are using certified chemicals in the pool and not some unknown chlorinated compounds......PCB's for instance.
Are the gold medals "real" or replicas?????

So many sufferings in that country and yet we to put them down more and more and more! Didn't we already took them for granted by taking our businesses to be done there for cheap labors so we could profit more? They make fakes but don't we make them as well? Maybe they're just better in making fakes that's why we're sour! How about our government? Do we really have the right to judge their country when we are killing innocent lives in our war? Sorry, but I think this thread is just out of order! No need to ban me since I'm not interested in participating in this forum anymore!

Your post made me smile and realize how lucky we are to live in a place like the USA. I have worked in China and have employees from China and if they every made a statement against their country like yours above; well they would not because of the consequences. We are very lucky. |

Kel...don't be so hasty to quit
Nobody said about anything banning and I see nothing in your post to warrant a ban. There is a fine line between what is being posted all over the world about the Chinese and many are crossing it. Sometimes Political activity will get confused with racism. As TR states, comments made about Chinese people can be crass and blatently xenophobic and it is easy to blame the nation as a whole for the deeds of their ruling power. I think many here did not mean to upset anybody with their comments. As Bubba has pointed out, many stereotypes are just generic ignorance. If I had a shiny english penny for all the times people have said that the British are tea drinkers with bad teeth, Limeys etc I would be posting on a Patek forum. Please, these misunderstandings happen...give everybody a chance and I'm sure you'll see that no harm was meant! J |
