1680 gilt dial and artificially aged?
I didn't know that 1680s ever had a gilt dial. Did they? It doesn't look right to me. It looks gilt to me and artificially aged. Plus the price seems low.
Here it is - http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...mtid=824&kw=lg |

Isn't it just badly redone? It looks like it is repainted with gold color.

The black backs are consistent with what is coming out of Singapore and Vietnam. It looks to me like a Vietnamese dial that has been adjusted to look a little different, but the project went awry.

I do believe the ref 1680 wasn't released until '67? And that would have been a mf single red...so no the 1680 never came with a gilt dial

This is just a poorly refinished or aftermarket dial. No 1680 Submariner ever wore a dial that looked like this.
