Need some opinions on datejust

I have a subc ND and now looking for 2nd Rolex, at first I was seriously considering blue dial Aqua Terra Master coaxial AU$7250 and it can be had easily for around AU$6200 after 15%

But my heart actually want the DJ II in blue stick dial preferably fluted bezel and it cost AU$11550 and I could only get 5% off which is still around 11k after discount. The smooth bezel is AU$9050 and after 5% off is around $8500 which is really attractive, I can pick up a 116334 for AU$9k used

I went to an AD yesterday and tried on the 36mm DJ fluted bezel SS WG and actually it doesn't look as small as I thought and I normally prefer oyster bracelet over jubilee but after trying it on, it's starting to get into my head and the price isn't too bad either AU$10100 and after 7% discount it's around AU$9300 but they don't have the blue stick dial although they could order it easily.

Does anybody have the blue stick dial DJ36mm? Is it the same blue as DJII?

There is a blue stick dial Dj36mm on DavidSW's website but with red date wheel, is that discontinued model?

Now I'm kind of torn between used DJ II 116334 or brand new DJ 36mm 116234

Thanks for reading

If the DJII with WG fluted bezel is your first choice, I'd hold out for that.
Sounds like that us your preference. Beautiful watch by the way!

Now my nearest AD is 5hrs drive away and if I want the DJ 36mm in blue dial, I should probably call to order in the next few weeks, where as if I were to get a used DJII it's easy to find anytime. My heart wants the DJII but DJ36 is starting to get into my head, everytime I try it I get a little bit convinced I can pull it off. The jubilee bracelet is beautiful too

I had the AquaTerra blue 38.5mm model and it is a nice watch, but too thick so think the Datejust 36mm is a better choice. Some Datejust models have what is called roulette date, so alternate red and black days on the date wheel, that is probably why the date was red (haven't seen the listing).

Is this so called roulette date still in production? From rolex website configurator all the date was black

I understand it is still in production, but not in every model. My 116200 blue concentric DJ has it, but it is discontinued on that model. Odd numbers are red, even numbers are black:

That dial is beautiful! What are you other watches, do you find the 36mm a bit small? I've been wearing a 40mm sub with maxi case as my only watch for almost a year now
I think the size is just perfect for my wrist

I have an older 16610 sub (40mm), as well as a Daytona (40mm) and a Datejust TOG, which is 36mm as well. (On my signature you can see them if you tab on the wording)

The 36mm size is obviously smaller than the Sub, but really comfortable and would look just fine in your wrist.

I never used to be a fan of the fluted bezel but recently it has really grown on me. I would hold out for the DJII - blue stick dial with the fluted bezel on the oyster bracelet. there is no point settling for something you are not totally happy with. You will likely regret it down the line. After all you will probably have the watch for ever so I would wait a little bit longer to find the one you really want.

Get onto one of the trusted sellers and see if they can source a like new 2nd hand one for you.

I saw that on his website but after converting it to AUD it cost around AUD8.3k, RRP here is $9050 and the AD is willing to give 5% off which would come down to around AUD8.5k might as well get it from an AD

Call some AD in Canada you should be able to get 15% perhaps even 20% off on fluted DJ . Free flight and take a vacation. Currently I am in Quebec on vacation, Montreal Is a great spot for rolex, as is Calgary, and Vancouver.

Lucky you Canadians! I don't have vacation days until February next year and my parents are coming over too

Of the 3 Rolex watches I own, the Datejust/Jubilee/fluted bezel is the most comfortable. It just is there without being obtrusively big or heavy. I think it is one of the truly classic Rolex watches. It fits nicely under a shirt sleeve, it is subtle, and it is beautiful. You can wear it anywhere without being noticed.

a DJ should always be on a jubilee, so easy and comfy to wear

I've been thinking of trying to find a blue dial 36mm on a jubilee to complement this one
