Close to buying my grail watch, 116718, quick question

It's been quite a while, but I'm getting very close to buying a green/gold GMT I've read a few references and forgive me if I've overlooked a source in the library, but I haven't found anything that mentions whether changes have been made since the 11xxxx series was introduced ~10 years ago, other than serial numbers.

What I'm getting at is there any reason to specifically look for a G or random serial watch over an older Z, M, or V other than personal preference? With a $4-5k price delta between years it seems like there would be some changes of note..

longer warranty with a new one. 5 years now. i dont think the model has changed at all though.

if you are going used the only difference is a 10 year old watch should get serviced so its really a 3-4k price difference (if the newer watch doesnt need service) and assuming nothing is majorly wrong with the watch you buy. personally id save the $ and go older serial but get the newest watch you can with reasonable savings.

As others have said, no real changes to the later serials. But, I would add, if you are looking at an older serial, you might want to see if it's been polished or not and if it's running within COSC specs. The polishing especially, b/c with gold you're looking at quite a hit if you try to unload a piece that's been over polished.

Maybe one change is the luminova colour early models glow green and more modern ones glow blue

Nice wrist shots! There are some other watches I really want, but none do it for me like this one.

Thanks for the info - I'll be sure to ask about the polishing.. that would suck to spend that kind of money and have a cheap/overly done polish job.

I bought mine when they first came out (Z serial).
I don't think there have been any changes that I'm aware of. Great watch!

Go with a new model. Nothing beats peeling the stickers off yourself and having your name on the warranty card..
