I've heard the adage "Hey do whatever you want with your watch hell throw it in a volcano after all it is a rolex!". And then you meet the camp that keeps their rolex's in a air tight safe for fears of getting a scratch on it. But honestly what can I not do with a Rolex Explorer 2? I honestly don't want to take the thing off my wrist unless I absolutely have too. I shower with it right now wash my face with face wash with it, jump into pools, take it to the beach, etc. I go to saunas often in NYC where the temperatures can reach upwards 196 degrees Fahrenheit, haven't worn it there yet, but would like to if I can. If these things can't take the punishment I just don't get the point of owning one. I know tourneau is in no way affiliated with rolex, but I was on their website while looking up if it's okay to have watches in pools etc, and they said be careful when you dive in to the pool with your watch as you may upset the pressure balance etc, soaps are corrosive, blah blah blah.

If you risk major wrist damage then you might want to take it off. Otherwise it should be fine.

For me: No sleeping, no showering, and no "heavy duty" work where scratching / rubbing is inevitable...

Tourneau is so full of crap and probably just trying to mitigate their own loses. The only things I avoid are work projects that might be prone to bad scratches, like working on a car where you reach into tight metal spaces. Otherwise, pools, saunas, whorehouses... All good.

I only take mine off to cook or sleep. The sleep is for comfort and the cooking is because it is inconvenient to get grease/oil out.

I've yet to find out what I can't do with my sub.
Body surfing, boating, jet skiing, saunas, jacuzzis, steam rooms, power washing, mowing the lawn, moving from house to house, shower, running, lifting... Goes on and on. My 16610 is on my wrist most of the time. Whatever I'm doing, it's doing.
When/if I find something it can't handle, well, the insurance company will get a call...

I got the Explorer so that I won't need to take it off; Mountainbiking, Backpacking, Working on my car, swimming & hot tubbing (soapy bath after to wash off the chlorine), woodworking, sleeping, showering....

I've only taken if off once when the girl I was with that night said I kept scratching her - we were very active. arms, legs, everything everywhere.

Rolex were made for chaps like you, who paid a lot of money for a watch that will take anything thrown at it.

To be frank, you are a role model for a Rolex wearer and I just wish there were more like you out there wearing the watch for the reason it was made.
