Whats to do when no other Rolex tickles your fancy now.
Since I have joined this forum back in January, I have, for me anyways, been on a bit of a buying frenzy. I am the proud owner of a hulk, a deep-blue, and finally a SD4000, all bought since the beginning of the year.
Before that, me and my 15 year old TT Blue Sub, have been minding our own business before my mind was attacked by all of you, lol. Well, after extensive research, I can safety say that no current model Rolex has jumped out at me, like I must have it, and to buy, just simply to buy, would be a mistake. I really don't want other brands at this point as I am going to build upon the Rolex brand. Even the elusive Daytona is not screaming me at this point, so what's a guy to do. Do I simply wait and see what comes out next year at Baselworld and continue to grab knowledge of the brand until then. Another option is vintage, but there is so much to learn about models and all, I just don't think I want to enter that arena . So I guess, I'll continue to read up and follow posts in here until I maybe discover there is a watch I over looked. thanks all.

enjoy the calm before the storm! I've had that same feeling for a minute or two here and there, and I've rather enjoyed the content feeling. Out of nowhere someone will post some random picture that will get your pistons firing!
Perhaps some precious metal might do the trick lol. |

Chad, Watchporn should be illegal..
BUT, you guys are exactly reading my mind, just trying to wrap my head around buying a Smurf or similar. Honestly, trying to justify the cost, and second if I did, would it play a strong favorite in regards to wrist time to my others. Do you guys with PM's find it dominates wrist time for like watches, such as PM Sub in comparison to your SS sub

I'm only about a month in with my DD40 I can say in my experience it has absolutely not jeopardize the rotation balance with my other SS watches. Everyone is different, but for me the DD40 was a HUGE acquisition. It's not taken lightly. YES, i wear it often and it doesn't have to be some special occasion, but I don't wear it to work and there are plenty of other situations that it simply doesn't quite fit. I had a 3 day bachelor party last month that was screaming for the Hulk! I just finished wearing my Tudor BB for about a week, just for the hell of it. That's just my experience and I'm sure it varies, but that's also part of the reason why I went with the DD40, cause it was different enough to justify it's place in the rotation. Perhaps a 116655 would be a good fit for you! |

Hello from another long time member from AZ. I think you are just at a crossroads in your collection. Something new will come along that you must have, trust me. I would just take a breath and be patient.
Personally, I have owned so many nice watches over the years. It is ridiculous how many I have bought and sold over the years. Right now I am smack dab in the middle of raising 3 expensive kids and I have no nice watches, just a few G Shocks. I was content for quite some time, knowing I was spoiling my kids was enough. Now I am in the cars, college, expensive activity faze of my life, but they are my grails so it is what it is. I will purchase one more nice watch within the year hopefully, and that will be it for me. You should be so happy with your amazing collection, you already have some fantastic pieces. Oh, love the Cardinals strap!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy the down time. I do think the vintage side is very interesting, but personally I think it's a little inflated.

I'm in exactly the same frame of mind.
I wear a Datejust, Daydate (YG), and a GMT II. I briefly thought about a SubC, but backed off after comparing it to my GMT. I own a safe queen Patek, but have no interest in another. It's a weird feeling. I could afford another Rolex or whatever, just not moved by any other watches. |

Exactly. Well said. If you can't find anything else to do with your extra cash, just save it for the day when there is something else you want, and it doesn't need to be a watch.

Some Rolex people have the habit of ignoring what is in front of them., take a look at the new Cellini range, in the flesh. Forget all the forum bias, just look at them as watches. Compare with the rivals, note stuff like the screw down crown. I think these are the best looking watches made by Rolex, and that includes the Day Date.
Just look at them in the flesh. Rolex are trapped by their own history and the conservatism of their customers. With the new Cellini models, they were able to do what they wanted. And it really shows. |

I was in your shoes/thought process... I've flipped, traded, sold, bought....crazily this year. Just now starting to settle on what "fits" for me and my lifestyle. And...for the first time in 18 yrs, I branched out to another brand and it has fit a niche for my need, for a PM piece. I'll always have SOMETHING on my radar, but definitely going to dial it back for a while. It's a crazy/fun hobby....:) enjoy!

You're in a good place! Stay put and enjoy the great pieces you've been able to collect. There will be more that grab you. Just a matter of time.
