Hey everyone, I just stumbled onto this forum a few days ago, and have been visiting regularly ever since. Even though this isn't my first post, I just thought I would say Hey :)

I've been interested in watches for a little while now, but it's only fairly recently that i've been able to afford any watches worth mentioning. I'll post some pictures of the few that I own at the bottom of this message.

As of right now, I only own one Rolex, and i am about to buy another. I was hoping you all could help me decide what to get, because I am absolutely in love with three watches, and i'm finding it very hard to decide what should be my next purchase. Eventually I would love to own all three, but after this next purchase it'll probably be at least a year or two before I get another.

I'm finding it really tough to pick, but so far I think they are in order of:

1) Platinum (Rolsium) Yacht-Master
2) TT Blue Submariner
3) SS Daytona

The TT Blue Submariner was the first watch that caught my eye many years ago and was #1 on my list until I recently saw the Platinum Yacht-Master. I just love everything about the Yacht-Master, especially after reading all the reviews on this forum. I am very interested in the movement and history behind the Daytona, but I own a fairly nice chronograph (though not a rolex). Which watch would you pick if you had to pick between these three?

I dont think too many chronographs are ever too much. I also have a seamaster exactly like yours, but chronograph. And a brietling chronomat evolution. And just recently bought a daytona. Thats three chronographs in my collection and can use more. The blue submariner is probably more durable than the other two, but doubt 100m or a 300m water resistance will make a difference unless your a diver. The daytona looks far better than the other two, and if you can find one for a reasonable price, should not pass it up. This is just my opinion, you should get what you like the most, otherwise if other ppl's opinion get to you, you will not enjoy your new watch as much.

Can't go wrong with any of the 3 - your watch collection is already stunning. Might put more weight toward the difficulty getting a Daytona at a good price. Should that weigh in your decision I think you are really down to two. My vote would be the Yachtmaster. However, hard to deny Bluesy and it was your first Rolex love. Jump in and enjoy it. We are all blessed to be in a situation where we can have these fine pieces of engineering and art as part of our lives. Good Luch and post any pictures when you can! Welcome to TRF.

Good problem to have. I have worked my Rolex collection down to just one - the TT Submariner. Gorgeous watch.

You could come close to getting both the YM & TT Sub for the price of a Grey Market Daytona. But given the choice, I'd pick the Daytona.

Stunning collection!

I think were it me I would go for the Daytona first. Such a popular watch.

The Blue Sub. is an iconic piece in it's own right as isn't that hard to come by. One thought (for what it's worth).

Speculation is the next generation Blue may get the maxi-dial and supercase (next year?). Maybe waiting to see how it strikes you is a consideration as the classic Blue will be readily available in the event you prefer that look.

The TT Blue Sub is the last watch you'll ever need. You may get others down the road but Bluesy is "The One".

If I were in your boat and could afford any of the three, I'd go SS Daytona.

Why......

You can get a bluesy easy on the preloved market. also, the new Sub will be coming out in bluesy. I bet it will be stunning if anything like the GMT IIc. The Pt YM is stunning and very nice, but you already have 2 other nice 3 handed watches. So, get the Daytona if you can.

Have you considered a GMT? You need a good 4 hander!

Love, love, love that Breguet! And, even though it'll make 2 chronos, the SS Daytona is not only a great watch, it is a statement, as well. But, even if you don't care about the statement that SS Daytona makes, it's a comfortable watch that may well be the best watch Rolex makes.

The Platinum YM seems to be the current "it" watch of the hoy-palloy lately, though.

I think i've decided to go with the platinum Yacht Master, and a local AD has quoted me a very attractive price, so I'll probably buy it locally as well.

I decided on the YM because even though I love the SS Daytonas, I don't love it enough to pay that much of a premium for it. As someone said I could literally buy both the Sub and the YM for the price that I can get a new Daytona around here. I would want to buy it new from an AD as well, so I think i'll just keep my eye on it and snatch it up when/if I ever find it at a reasonable price. As for the blusey Sub, I want to wait until the new model comes out so I can decide if I want to get the current model or the new one. I most likely will have one sooneor later though, it's still one of my favorite Rolex models. So that leaves me with the Platinum YM :)

Now the new decision i'm trying to make is whether or not I want to keep my Oyster Date, or trade it in in Vegas for a SS GMT-II Ceramic... The Date was my first Rolex, and my first nice watch, so I do have some what of an attachment to it, but I don't know if my tastes have just changed, or my wriststs have gotten fatter (probably both), but the 34mm frame just seems a little small for my tastes now, and I don't really wear it that often any more.

So what do you all think, should I hold on to it, or trade it in at the Tourneau watch store? Any thoughts are welcome

You have very interesting choices there:
1) The yatchmaster is a very nice watch something you will be able to find with not much dificulty and get a nice discount.
2) The TT bluesy is a very nice watch, I felt exactly like you with that watch it is a beauty! You should also be able to find this watch at a discount, specially now that a new model is coming out soon to replace it (soon maybe not that soon but soon since they are coming out with the WG Sub with ceramic already)
3) The holy grail Rolex for many SS Daytona! if you can get your hand on one of this for list get this one! They are hard to come by and usually reserved for the VIP customers of the AD's! If for any reason you do not like it you can easily sell it for 20 to 30% more used! or you can PM me and I will buy it for you at list price !!!

I'm from Vancouver too. Last week my AD told me they received a SS Daytona black dial and offered for me for $13000 too. As you said, we like SS Daytona but not at that price.

I'm still thinking of getting a SS GMT IIc instead.

I hear you! I can see you have broader choices and not just Rolex, so for 13k you can buy other Chronos for your colection that might justify the 13k price tag: A) Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chrono, this watch is amazing! the construction of the case/dial/bracelet is juts incredible you should be able to get one for about this price (it retails for 16k but I have seen AD's who will discount them) B) JLC Master Compresos Extreme World Chrono! this watch is also amazing, it has a World Time function in adition to the Chrono and retails for about 13k. Both watches have dates and not just the Chrono and belong to very prestiged brands.
Again if you can locate a Daytona for list Price (about 9k) then it is a good idea to get it, but for 13k think of soemthing else.
I was waiting for a Daytona at my AD but one day I just bumped into a TT GMTIIC and just fell in love with it! No regrets! Try that GMTIIC you will like it a lot and it will be less hazardous to your wallet !

Out of those three, I think the Yacht Master is the best value for the money, especially if you buy pre-owned. If money is no issue, then get the Daytona.

Blue Submariner!!!!!!

I think we have something in common. My first watch was a Omega Seamaster titanium in with Blue dial. My second watch was a Breguet too but it was a classic ref 5907, but I sold it because I felt too young for that watch as I was 19. After Breguet I purchased a IWC Aquatimer chronograph which I still own today.

Well since Im an asian I think I HAVE to own a Rolex :-D And Blue Submariner is THE ONE among all rolex.. Imo. I just LOVE blue watches :-D Think about it!

Of the 3 you mentioned, I'd go with the YM. It's a beautiful watch.

As for the Daytona...they're not as hard to get, it seems, as some would lead you to believe. They're routinely popping up BNIB on the FS Forum here for under $10,500, which is only slightly more than it would cost at an AD with tax.
