Zenith El Primero vs Zenith Pilot Annual Calendar

Dear all, I am debating between these two watches to purchase. Zenith El Primero is an iconic watch with lots of history. But the Zenith Pilot comes with annual calendar complication which I would like to have very much. Eventhough the Zenith Pilot watch costs more, I don't mind the higher price. Please give me your opinion on which one to go for and why. Thank you very much.

Which size should I go for? 42mm or 45mm El Primero?

I prefer the 42, but I guess it depends on your wrist size

I prefer the 38mm to either larger option. So that's what I have, and it's gorgeous. I wouldn't give any other Zenith a second look.

Is there a reason that I should not buy the 42mm El Primero? Any other watches out there I should also consider? I have Submariner, Navitimer, Reverso, Seamaster, Speedmaster, MeisterSinger, Combat Sub, PAM111 and Seiko Orange Monster in my collection already.

Yes. It's too big! Try one on, then try the 38 mil.

That's tough choice. I handled Zenith El Primero but it looked like an ordinary watch to me. I expect something like Defy Xtreme from the brand
Aviation themed watches have been fashionable collection items even Rolex revamped Air King . As for the Zenith aviation themed watch, I haven't seen it in person yet. Besides that I'm not sure whether or not I would like that onion shaped crown, however there's a good reason why it's there.
Well, what to pick?
Zenith Pilot edges out El Primero because I already have a Zenith Elite. Hadn't I owned Zenith Captain Elite I,would have picked El Primero because of transparent caseback
Zenith Pilot has an engraved caseback instead of transparent caseback and I would like to watch, literally speaking, and view this beautiful movement ticks

I don't have either of the watches and if I were to make a call, I'd go for the El Primero for the following reasons:

1. Can't beat the movement and its legacy
2. The design of the watch is classic
3. The size of the El Primero is manageable
4. Can dress up or down easily

No disrespect to the pilot model, but it is just not for me.

Zenith El Primero vs Zenith Pilot Annual Calendar

Of those two, I'd go El Primero 42mm. It's a nice looking watch with a respected movement. If you want a pilot's watch, I'd get an IWC.

Good luck!
