I have an insert for my 1675 that is a little misshapen and not snapping in securely. It's not falling out, just not as tight as others...and I'm concerned it could get knocked out. On investigation, It seems to have lost a bit of uniform shape as you look at it from various angles.
Does anyone have a trick to return it to a uniform conical shape? I was thinking to place it over something rounded in a way to reform its shape. Thanks for any tips!!

Wouldn't it be a good thing to put it on a hard surface with the numbers up. And then put a plate on it and press it a bit downwards - to "flatten" it a tiny bit.

Good idea....
I was thinking maybe first drop it down over the top of a narrow bottle...to get it uniformly a little conical....and then maybe your plate idea. It's not all mangled or anything...I think just taking it on and off it lost its "perfect" shape. And it's 30yrs old!

Try pushing it down over a tapering, circular object - wine bottle.

Regardless of how it is handled, I would highly recommend a bit of glue when setting it into place to avoid any issues. It is a common practice with WMs.

A couple of dots of runner cement, will not hurt a thing I was told by a local watch tech once

Rubber tipped pliers always does the trick for me.
