Any reason why I would or wouldn't choose one over the other for servicing my 16808 Gold Sub? Thanks for your thoughts!

Unquestionably better. I know a guy who trained the RSC Dallas staff and the stories are... not confidence inspiring. It's actually pretty impressive that they do as well as they do, but LAWW is light years beyond.

There is no substitute for sending it to an RSC. Its Rolex Service center, 2 year warranty, etc etc. I think that should be more than enough reason..:) to me, at least it is.

I have to know the difference between those 2.machines to know that I recommend that A Rolex service center service a rolex watch?
If you have a vested interest in recommending another shop, by all means. But don't think you can intimidate and insult and expect me to cower? Lol

Despite the bit of aggression, the point was that your blanket statement about RSC being the only acceptable place to service a watch was not accurate.

It's not about having a vested interest, it's more about the possibility that you might not be knowledgeable enough to make those kinds of statements.

I've read plenty of horror stories about RSC services going wrong. Especially for vintage. You don't send a vintage watch to RSC.

Yes, I agree to a point and heard stories about vintages and RSC.
My remark was to new /or like new ones with warranty still in effect.
In that case, why not send it to Dallas RSC? which is where my DSSD is currently.

My perspective was, leverage the power and resources of a Dallas RSC or even the San Fran RSC, which I took my 16613 at one time to have it checked out. You pretty much know they will have to stand beside their work and even if things go south, there is substantial methods to make them liable. Yes , of course, all within reason. And yes, I am quite sure there are plenty of very qualified independents out there, namely Vanessa and others.

Generally speaking, yes - knowing what you're talking about tends to be important when making a recommendation. It's OK not to know, but refraining from making uniformed recommendations is probably a good idea

His response was very condescending, not sure why it was necessary but anyway. When it comes to modern rolex I totally agree on using a rsc.

I have lapping machines and hand polishing tools in my glass shop. Can you expand on why there is a significant difference in the two techniques when polishing watches?

Those sunbursts came out very well. It's hard to beat that.

The pictures in post 256 are the stars though. I was wondering what sort of fixture he used to control the work, and those clear that up.

There's a seller on here that works for an AD and he mentioned his store sending watches to ABC because they didn't want to pay RSC prices. He didn't say they always do that specifically but I would see that as a vote of confidence for ABC.

I've read from some of the more knowledgable members on this forum that they would never send their vintage Rolex's to an RSC.

There were a few threads on this...ABC had some folks leave to form LA - with participation by Eric Ku (vintage dealer). I still don't have it straight which key folks ended up where...

Personally, I'd send a modern watch to RSC.

Vintage would go to one of the LA shops mentioned above. These shops are great for restoring cases to old factory spec...

I've worked with both Alex at ABC and Beau who is at LA, both are stellar, I have even worked with Dalton who is no longer with either but was a team member when they were all ABC, you will be good with either of the entities...
They are both better than RSC in every aspect, turn around time, your wishes as to what you want done and how you want it done, the list goes on... As to warranty it is now two years and is transferable as well.

Training for the USA RSCs is done out of the PA location. They know what they're doing - they have intentionally turned the RSCs into a repair factory.
