Rolex submainer warranty.

Hello, I bought my Rolex a few days ago new and I was wondering if anyone bought the 3 year warranty that covers things outside of the 5 year warranty such as water damages/accidental damages. It cost 700 to purchase it so I was wondering if it was worth it or not. Thanks for the help.

Edit: autocorrect on my phone messed up the title name. Sorry

You must mean some kind of extended warranty offered by a dealer?

I would not buy that from them. Jewelers Mutual should be able to insure the watch for far less over that same time period.

I bought from Rolex AD. They told me 3 years $700 covers all damage and if they can't fix. They'll replace the watch for free.

I did not know that was even an option (Although I've never bought from an AD). I think the 5 yr warranty that they now offer is way more than enough. I wouldn't even think about it.

I sure wouldn't buy that. They are charging $700 to cover years 6-8? If the watch is fine for the first five years what are the chances you will need those three years? Besides, if you're concerned at five years you can send the watch in for service for that price and have a freshly serviced watch with a two year warranty.

Actually it's not an extension. It's literally 3 years on top of the 5 years. The AD seller said the five year myself wouldn't cover damages on the outside of the wstch. Just the components inside.

I still don't like the sound of that. They can repair or replace at their option. So what do you do if say, you get a nice scratch on the case, file a claim and risk over-polishing the case? Or suppose you break the crystal. Will they also pay for a full service, or just the cost of the crystal?

Personally I wouldn't go for it. But it's your watch and your money.

Get what you are comfortable with; just make sure you are getting what is said.

True, the Rolex warranty does not include damage. It is only for manufacturing defects, not repairs or "free" servicing.

The "warranty" the Dealer is offering is theirs, not Rolex, and is only as good as the Dealer offering it.

I've owned Rolexes for over 30 years and never seen the need for a "warranty" like this. Your money though.

$700 insurance for 3 years is very expensive.
You should get a new one when it's stolen!
