Zaphire crystal polish

I believe this is not possible but has anyone heard that a Safire crystal can be lightly polished? I have a crystal tha has a a shallow streak, can this be fixed without going to the ordeal of replacing the crystal? And the ensuing service costs?

Any ideas besides making pretend it isnt there until service comes up? Is that Sapphire? Zaphire? Where is the dictionary! ;-)

My watchmaker has polished out light streaks with a wheel before. I don't know he did it, but it cost me $15.

i think after polishing the crystal could be less clear overall. Its just a theory i cannot back that up in any way.. but still.. its a possibility.

Diamond paste is the only product that will totally remove scratches/marks from sapphire crystals with ease.You will need some good quality diamond paste. I have used 3 micron to remove the main scratch going across the scratch first,it takes a fair bit of elbow grease.But use only a tiny bit on a cloth like a spectacles cloth or similar.Then just a fine polish after with the quarter micron,and scratch will be gone,and good as new. Cost for the two tubes in the UK around £15 expect cheaper out of the UK and cheaper on ebay.Its far cheaper than buying a new crystal takes a bit of time,if scratch is very deep then crystal should be replaced.
