SS Daytona vs. Platona
I am trying to decide between these two watches.
I prefer the simple colours/black ceramic bezel of the SS Daytona but the ice blue dial on the Platona is nice too. Not sure about the brown bezel. The weight of the platinum is nice. Which would you prefer of the two? Putting price aside it is only like a $35k difference. Just comparing the actual watches regardless of price. |

Your right for only a 35k difference I'll take the platona. . Not sure if troll or serious .
If completely ignoring price I still prefer the platona. Blue is my favorite color and the dial is lovely. The brown matches it well. The weight of the platinum is unique. I could go on. |

I own both.
Platona FTW hands down Could be a troll or could be someone who simply doesn't care about the price Although if you don't care about the price you'd own both I presume. |

For my watch budget, I prefer having 5 watches instead of 1. Therefore I went for the SS.

Platona is too heavy for comfortable daily wear imo. Get the 500 for daily use.

well if you are serious about putting cost aside then i am with you i prefer the SS colour theme and the weight and feel of the platinum...
but i would still go with the platona...the brown/blue combo is far from being hideous another suggestion: if price is no issue why not buy both and have the SS dial and black bezel swapped into the platinum case, then you have (based on your preferences) the best of both worlds

Platona if price wasn't a issue. No debating it.

SS Daytona vs. Platona
I think if anyone can afford to have a platona in their collection. Then a daytona C is chump change. In most instances they would have both. And in most instances they would have easier access to actually being able to buy a daytona c than me because they are a bigger spender. For anybody in the market for a platona purchased from an AD I would tell the AD that this platona purchase is dependent on you getting me a daytona c as well.

If price wasn't an issue, couldn't he buy both, and have the bezel, movement, and dials swapped and get what he really wants. Anybody want a stainless brown bezel ice blue dial Daytona with a salvage title for cheap?

IMHO, the $35k-ish difference makes no sense to me for a few ounces of platinum. The exclusivity factor is high so not carping about that.
However, the look of a black-dialed 116500 is an unqualified winner for me. If you can have the wherewithal to buy the Platinum, then the question makes little sense. You would clearly be able to have both.

And I'm just one of those people who doesnt go giddy for the platona color combo...so for me it would be the SS/ceramic of those two options. However, I love the weight of the PM watches so Id fall somewhere in the WG territory if I were to purchase another one.

In this case they are the same movement, the same watch. If someone wants to pay the premium for platinum then that is their choice.

Troll. Price aside, buy the entire Daytona lineup and rest them on gold bars at night. Best option for your price point IMO.

Being a DaytonaC owner, I can say hands down the Platinum takes the win.

If you consider purchasing from DavidSW, given the “market price” of the DaytonaC and the Platona currently available on their site, then the price difference is $37,600.
$35k isn’t too much off a stretch when considering current market values. MSRP is a different story. |

Purely based on aesthetics, I'd say the SS is better looking. Just my opinion.... Let the flaming begin

I saw a similar question on a Porsche forum:
Should I get a Boxster or a 911 Twin Turbo S. Prices are within a couple hundred thou, so not really a consideration.

This is actually somewhat of a valid question....I already know of one other member that is selling the 116506 because the 116500 is getting all of his wrist time....so he cannot be alone. It's all preference but to me the 116506 is just beautiful in every way and the presence of the wrist will blow you away.
