A nice evening

Yesterday Anne and myself went to a dinner to celebrate the 50th birthday of her best friend. Her husband had invited 12 other people for a nice dinner in their favourite Italian restaurant. They had live music, a 3 piece band. Nowadays they use a laptop instead of orchestra tapes and a karaoke program to remember the lines. One played bass, the other keyboard and there was a female singer. Early in the evening they started with ‘musac, musical wallpaper’ and I though: “what a way to be an artist”, no one took any notice of them. But as the very lovely evening progressed (I had linguini with meatballs as a starter, yummy), they started to interact with the guests. My wife’s friend used to be a singer and was asked to join them, as well as her daughter who can also sing very well. They did a duet and moved all present. After that, people from the audience were asked to come up and sing. Well Idols (and even famous ‘stars’) eat you heart out! I didn’t know that many people could sing that well. I was truly astounded by the quality of some people’s performance! And the band as well, what performance it turned out to be. They will remain unknown but put many an Idol contestant and well known artist to shame.

And my eyes turned to radar as I scanned the place for watches. A couple of DJ’s, the omni present Sub and a couple of Breitlings and Maurice Lacroix. One Cartier tank on a very nice lady. The restaurant is in Scheveningen, a mondaine village on the seashore near The Hague. Her husband had booked a room in a posh hotel and as they left, there was a lot of hinting and winking about the remainder of the evening and night.

All and all we had the time of our lives and went home at around 00.30 AM (I even paid my parking fee, which was astronomical, with a smile ).

Sounds like a great evening. And a nice collection of watches, I mean, clientelle, lol
Sorry, where I dine the wrist attire is more like ONE Rolex ( mine) maybe two if my wife is wearing hers, then a bunch of Timex's and a few swatches, If lucky, maybe a Bulova kicking around.

The watches are not important and reading back the line about the radar made me realise that I'm (we) a geek But I only started after about 3 Campari on the rocks, I swear

Speaking of Bulova, At our local grocery store , the HAD, these scratch & wins they gave away with every purchase. So back In January I picked up some grub & got a ticket. It was a BINGO one, I filled in all my spaces & thought I won 10 Air Miles , woo hoo, So I left it in my car, I rechecked it yesterday & I won a Bulova ( Just a Solar, but still ) BUT THEN I noticed, " MUST BE CLAIMED BEFORE FEB 9TH",
Dang, missed it by only 1 month.

Sounds like a great evening Frans, but with all this watch gazing are you turning into a Dutch WIS.
