Horrible AD experience

Hello TRF family,

I am looking for a recommended AD so that I can place my name on the list for a ceramic Daytona. Also, I am looking to pick up either an LV Hulk, BLNR, or a two tone GMT II.

Today I stopped by a local AD and the service was terrible. As soon as I would try on a piece, the lady would try to mention financing options since "I wouldn't be able to afford it". I was wearing the Two tone GMT II and when I asked my girlfriend if she liked the piece, the sales lady replied and mentioned that it would "look better on someone that is more wealthy, you should stick with stainless".

I was shocked by this, especially since we were both dressed fairly nice and I was wearing one of my APs.

Oh well!! I was ready to purchase at least one of the pieces mentioned above.

My apologies for the mini rant.

did you say or do anything while at this AD to voice your displeasure with the treatment you got?

Yes, I let the manager know off to the side but I still do not want to do business with them.

Wow, that's just awful. I actually take mild pleasure in walking into an AD dressed in my most casual clothes and seeing how they treat me...will tell you a lot. Local AD is great thankfully, nothing but respect.

Telling us makes for an interesting story but that woman has a boss. Telling the story to her manager or employer would result in a real sense of satisfaction.

You know, I keep reading posts like this, but my experience at my AD has always been so radically different.

This is the first negative encounter that I have had. But you are right, it is my fault that the lady was rude...

Anyways, I was hoping that someone could provide a connection for someone who works at an AD so that I can get on a list and make a purchase.

Is there only one AD in your immediate vicinity? Why not just try another AD? It sounds like the experience you had, however unpleasant and unprofessional, was fairly unique to that particular AD.

I apologize, I in no way meant to say that it was your fault the lady was rude. She clearly overstepped her bounds as several of our posters on this thread have accurately pointed out. It mystifies me why someone who makes their living off retail sales would not want to make all of their potential customers feel like a VIP.

It's just that I guess I have led a charmed life when it comes to this sort of thing. My local AD, for example, bent over backwards to get me a D500, and I know I am nowhere near their biggest or most important client.

I wish you good luck in your quest, sir.

Thank you! All good on my end. Hoping I can find a nice AD in Atlanta to build a relationship with over the years.

I'm too old and comfortable with myself to take insults from salespeople. I ask for the owner and let him/her know about the situation and walk out. This happened to me when I was 17yrs old, buying an Omega Moonwatch; never again!

I have had great experience with Tourneau but the location close to me does not carry Rolex in store. I suppose I could have them order the model I like! I am going to go to the other AD in the area this week, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask in order to save some time.

This was not at a Tourneau location as previously mentioned. It was at a store called Mayors.

UTC Mall in Sarasota Mayors offers great service imho, so that location he went to must have bad management.

Those comments were too forward and rude.

I sometimes wonder if the salespeople give this reverse psychology tactic where they make you feel like they think you won't buy anything so that you would buy something to prove something.

Whenever I feel like they are pulling my leg, I don't buy from them.

Ummm, not sure if that tactic works. Years ago I tried to buy BMW X5 when first released. I had to chase the salesman, made many calls and more emails. I finally pinned him down and asked for a test drive, saying to him "don't you want to sell me this car"

His reply? "I don't need to sell you this car, they sell themselves"

Well, what do you think I did? Yes, that very weekend I drove away in a brand new Lexus RX330.

PS. sad part is, I really wanted to buy the BMW instead, but spite is a powerful motivator!

You are better off with the Lexus. At least you'll have a spare tire. And very probably much better service.

You are spot on! Had the Lexus 3 years, and customer service was so good, it was embarrassing. After 3 years I succumbed to driver vanity and traded it for a 5 series wagon. Loved the car, but the service was laughable... would you believe this... a tail light was always playing up, blowing bulbs and fuses. Discovered the internal housing had melted! The service manager told me my fault, because we drive in heavy traffic, the brakes always on, so the excess use caused heat build-up! Seriously, could not believe my ears... I asked him to put that in writing, ie. BMW's not designed for city traffic.

Sold it and now have Merc. Happy days

Interesting, as same thing happened to me at a BMW dealer except it was the M3. Left in amazement and came back a month later.... driving a Ferrari. After pulling into the dealership the service guys were all over the car oogling it until, finally, the service center mgr shoo'ed them all away. Walked into the dealership, asked for the sales mgr and told him the story and showed him what i chose instead.
