Time to go full vintage?

Hello everyone. I'm seeking some advice.

I have been wearing my 6265 and the more I look at it, the more I like the vintage look alongside the hunt, minutiae, etc. As such I'm looking to switch two modern Rolex pieces for two vintage Rolex pieces, but I have some questions.

I have a Deepsea and a BLNR. My Deepsea is my workhorse, it goes everywhere. My BLNR I've been wearing less because I always had a feeling I would eventually sell it for one reason or another. But it's also the most useful complication as I work across time zones.

I'm thinking of swapping like for like, and get a 1665/1680/5513 and a 1675. And come out flat more or less.

Am I being unrealistic here with finding decent wearable examples (consistent dial, case and hands), and not having to spend money on top for a 1665 and 1675? Or should I be looking at 1680/5513 and 1675?

To anyone who's had a GMT Master II, and travels a bit, have you made the switch to a GMT Master, have you regretted it for the loss of functionality? I still will have a 16570 that can do that job.

I sold my 16710 and bought a 16750 for my travel watch. The 16710 is great but I prefer the quickset date of the 16750. I now use the bezel and 24 hr hand for local/Utc time and leave the hour hand on home time.

The way you describe 16750 makes a lot of sense. Flicking through quickset hours to set the date is a pain for 16710 and 116710.

That's a good start. I don't mind adding a bit.

And as far as pa30's comment above, that's a very valid point. I guess I'm looking for pleasing examples aesthetically (patina, bezel) that can be worn daily.

You don't lose any functionality, it' just a little more tedious.

I have vintage non-Rolex and would say this; if you want to enjoy wearing them don't be too invested in buying pristine examples that you wouldn't actually risk wearing for fear of harming value. That would defeat the purpose of "practical" vintage.

My own collection of Rolex is 5-series 1999 and newer as a compromise between the "maxi" cases of the present collection and preserving modern features.

I applaud your sentiments. I wear a 16753 root-beer that is super-functional and has the look that I love. I could never wear the DSSD, looked too big on me. My choice for a vintage replacement would be a matte-dial 16660: that gets you the sapphire crystal with the vintage look. Great watch, haven't found the money to buy one yet, but that would be my choice over the 1665. Don't get me wrong, I love acrylic crystals, 90% + of my watches have them, but sapphire is super convenient.
