Rolex 16520 - Advice
I'm looking to pick up a 16520 but I'm new to the Rolex world.
Obviously prices for the different variations are all over the board. I know personal preference and personal budget drives a lot of my question but I would really value the forums perspective. The 4 line speaks to me. I'll likely never sell the watch, but value is important to me so here are some questions. How much cost should papers and original box add? Given how much of a premium 4 line dials are commanding are they overpriced these days. I'm trying to rank: T-series with box and papers ~$13k S-series inverted 6 no box and no papers ~$12k L-series 4 line / 200 bezel no papers but with box $22k All of them are all original in similar condition. Based on the prices given, I'm assuming they all have a white dial. If yes, then I'd go with the T series w/box and papers. Zenith Daytonas can still be found with B&P, but IMO as more and more of them find their way into the hands of collectors, they will become less widely available and a $1K premium might look like a bargain.
The only 16520 I'd spend big money on (if I had the money) would be the porcelain dial or maybe a black dial floating Cosmograph. |

You're correct they are all white dials. I actually prefer the white dial so it works out well for me that they are cheaper.
So you give no value to the earlier inverted 6 dial? I agree $1k for papers feels worth the money today. Trey |

You're right they are all white dials. I actually prefer the white dials which is good for me since they are cheaper.
Do you not consider the earlier inverted 6 dials to be more valuable? I completely agree that papers are worth $1k extra. On the 4 line dials I see people trying to charge WAY more money for full sets. Trey |

You're right they are all white face watches. I actually prefer the white dial, which is lucky for me since they are cheaper.
I completely agree that papers are worth an extra $1k. Do you not consider earlier inverted 6 dials and all brushed bracelets worth more than later dials and polished center links? Trey |
