[Car Incoming] What's better than a Christmas Wreath this time of Year?
Finally decided on my comfortable and luxurious car.
Q: What's better than a Christmas Wreath this time of year? Ans: A Steering Wheel wrapped with ornamental (and functional) buttons and a bow ! I love how Paul does his incomings, because it makes it fun trying to guess. Any guesses on the ultimate car for comfort and luxury I got? Don't guess if you saw my accidental post. I decided to start a new thread. Here are some hints Comfort/Luxury off the charts yet surprisingly sporty Over 600 HP 0-60 in mid 4's. Coupe/2 Door Should be coming this Tues/Wed if all goes well. I have been waiting to post, because I wanted to absolutely make sure it was going to happen. I got a call from the head of financial and its all a go!! Next up - a Matching Watch worthy of the car!! |

Over 600hp and "only" mid 4 0-60? Must be a heavy beast, what did you get a Wraith?
Edit: OK that must be it, there a clue in the title. |

I tried to distract that with an alternate Q & A. But YES Constantine is RIGHT! Q:What is better than a Christmas Wreath this time of Year. A: A Christmas Wraith! Thanks to crazy year end incentives totaling $78K, I am able to lease this literally for $300 more a month than an S-class convertible with $3000 more down. Sticker was $363,000. With incentives amount to be leased ended up at $285,000. Payments = AWESOME!!! Difference awesome residual and money factor versus Merc. Yes it is a 2016, but it is still new!! Patience paid off!!! Here is the exact exterior color below, so driving it will look just like this: Dealer took off website because it is officially mine, or I would share more pics. Should have official photos this week Rolls_Royce_Wraith_001.jpg |

^^3 year / 7500 mile/year Lease... Makes so much more sense with incentives.
I will most likely trade in two years and because of incentives the initial depreciation hit is taken care of fairly well, So it should not be very upside down at all. Who knows, this could be one of the few cars I ride out the lease... My 911 GTS will have a nice companion indeed. |

Its a light beige with piano finishing. Starlight headliner OF COURSE!! Drivers assist packages and technology up the wazoo. 21" wheels, and drives and handles much better than the Ghost IMO. Not so boaty and floaty feeling. Thank you BMW for purchasing ROLLS in 1998!! Luxury car with all the tech is awesome!! Having 11 BMWs, not only did that help get me approved (Rolls financial owned by BMW financial), but I know this car already, because a lot of familiar tech (and new stuff but all "BMW" intuitive), all with polished chrome hand finishing of course. Interior is this color and finishing. Steering wheel a little different but close to this: Rolls-Royce-Wraith-Inspired-by-Fashion-Dashboard2-www.mylifeonandofftheguestlist.com.jpg Bespoke audio and wood finishing would have been nice, otherwise I am happy with the color and all the options... |

End of year incentives was the key. Or it would not have made sense. If you Divide $78K by 36 months payments would have been almost $2000 MORE without incentives. So monthly payments of $2600 (with tax) would have been nearly $4500 with no incentives. HUGE differential. Funny thing is the monthly payments were only $300 more than the $153K S -class I looked at with only $3000 more down. Also compared to the $158,000 2017 Panamera Turbo payments, the Wraith was only $200 more a month with only $1000 more down. (and I did factor in the bigger downpayment on Rolls to keep comparisons fair, otherwise payments would have been better than the Porsche and Merc). Only BMW 7 series would have been a significant savings of the cars I was looking at, but sticker there was only $110K for the 750 I was looking at. |

I don't blame you one bit. I would totally spend 300 more a month to have the wraith. In fact I did the same thing when I went shopping for an S5 and left with a 911 a few years ago

^^ I will probably take some long drives and if I turn it in early the 7500 is a mute point.
Its simply what is owed minus what it is worth. 7500 is the max Rolls leases at, so there are not any other options accept buying miles. And for me longer drives are 2 hour drives to Orlando or Naples, 4 hour drives to Miami and usually one drive a year to Atlanta. And probably one trip to Michigan in 2 years. So I am not a big cross country driver or anything, so long drives was perhaps not the correct choice of words, though I feel a 4 hour round drive drive to Naples or Orlando is a long drive. But on a daily basis I find myself in the car for nearly an hour which I usually take many business calls while driving. (The Rolls will be great for taking calls). I still have two cars to split miles and even with my longer trips I total at most 15,000 miles a year grand total on all cars. But this baby is NOT going to be a garage queen. I am going to drive the heck out of it. Again big incentive helps offset initial hit so that works in my favor even if I go over. I will just pay the negative to get into next one. I am shooting for keeping mileage on Rolls around 10K a year and perhaps trading end of 2018 to see what crazy incentives they have then. |

First==You're going to enjoy that one and HUGE CONGRATS in advance!
NOW, if you don't want to hear common sense Paul, don't read below: You have been all over the place, so my comments come from that concern. RR leases are notorious for high percentage I'm talking 7-12% annually (need to know money factor and residual over term and get your interest rate--make your dealer tell you). If it's in this range run. Just asking before you pull the trigger, do you really think about 150 miles a week is anything? I can kill that in one day, much less all week. I hear your payment justification, but think through EVERYTHING including 7500 miles. Also, you spent a lot of time explaining how and why you will pay for it--that is always a red flag to me. Someone buying a wraith shouldn't be worried about payments. I don't know your lifestyle and other factors, so I'm just asking as a complete outsider and forum car 'friend'. I bet you have already done that, so common sense Paul will support you 100%. Looking forward to pics of the incoming. |

^^^ Thanks Paul, I always appreciate hard-nosed advice if its helpful (which this is).
With regards to the justifications, I think they are warranted. I like the S-class and 2017 Panamera (which I saw at Tampa auto show), but I like the Wraith much better, so yes it is the car I want. I have been all over the place because I really wanted to test and try everything PLUS I broke up with my long time girlfriend so that brought an extra car to "deal" with. Seeing the payments are close to Merc and Porsche makes the decision easier. We'll see about percentages but I already got hard numbers for monthly payments with tax included and it is as I said, I similarly got hard numbers from Porsche and Merc so its all there in plain site. In all fairness mileage is 7500 compared to 10,000 for Porsche and Merc. 7500 a month is 187.5 a week, but if I turn the car in after 2 years, mileage only comes into play on the value for payoff. Don't you think $78,000 in incentives helps to offset the initial depreciation hit? If I end up at 10K a year after two years, I'll just eat the negative equity on a trade-in. I guess the only thing I am not clear on is this being a $363K sticker with $78K in incentives bringing it down to $285K. In 2 years will my negative equity be manageable. The salesman said because of incentives it should be and 2 years will be right at another end of year incentive time to trade in for something else. His reasoning makes sense to me. I am just not seeing something? You know more about this game then I do, so your comments ALWAYS welcome. Thanks! |
