2016 WG Daytona Blue Dial

I am on the fence, is it as nice as I think it is? Does it look different enough from the SS model?

With a Daytona you'll get plenty of time to decide.

The dial is outstanding! However it needs a C bezel. No way I would pay that type of money for it. Saw it twice now at two AD's

Now that the SS models have ceramic bezels, it's going to be easily distinguishable. I personally love the WG models. My opinion of WG has done a complete reversal since I got the BLRO.

It's a nice watch, to be sure. But...only you can decide if it's worth the money.

I love that model, I think the blue dial contrasts nicely with the WG bezel. If I were to get a Daytona model, that would be the one.

I haven't seen one in person but it looks very beautiful in pics which probably doesn't do the watch any justice.

It's beautiful, but seems to be hardly discounted. Seems like in a year or two it will be 1/3 cheaper. Not an issue if you are going to keep it.

I've always been a huge fan of the Daytona but never liked the way it looked on my wrist. Then one day I was at a watch show and someone had a Daytona with the Arabic dial. Without even realizing it was WG I picked it up and immediately thought holy shit, this watch looks, wears and feels so much better than Daytonas I've tried in the past.

I mentioned that to the dealer and he immediately said well Is this the first time you tried on a WG Daytona, and then of course i realized lol!

Anyway, I still don't love the size of the Daytona and I'd take a date function over chrono, but the WG Daytona with blue dial is absolutely stunning, and a TOTALLY different looking watch from the new ceramic SS daytonas. If you can afford it and you love it, no reason to hold back!

Before I got the Platona, I owned a WG Daytona with meteorite dial. I absolutely loved it. Here is a photo. And one of the Platinum for comparison.

My wife always thought the blue dial of the Platona was the most beautiful watch she ever saw, so I traded in the WG plus cash for Platinum. In short, I love the heft and subtle look of precious metals like WG and Platinum. I would do it in a heartbeat.

You have such great taste...I have the meteorite bug after my recent speedy and I'm thinking of adding the same watch before the 116506 next year. Saw it today at Fourtane and it was awesome.

Love my 116509 hefty and stealthy. Only you know if you want to pay the new model premium though but that blue dial and WG contrast is perty!!

I wish the Non ceramic Daytona bezels weren't so sensitive to scratches. That would be my only hesitation.

If you want to stand out WG/Platinum is not for you. To the ordinary person it looks just like SS. To stand out get Yellow or Rose gold.

If you want to be under the radar and know that you have an expensive watch for your own satisfaction then go for it.

A very cool looking watch but as with all the other Basel models from 2016 (excluding DaytonaC) very readily available. Make sure you are buying it at right price and then enjoy!

I say go for it. The 116509 is a fantastic reference. The blue dial is stunning, but you will pay a big premium if you want it right now. As mentioned above, I would take a look at the metiorite or even the panda. I imagine at some point you will be able to source a blue dial.

It's gorgeous but I would probably want a better deal than what's currently out there on it

I think the WG/Blue looks amazing.

Too bad the resale on WG Daytonas are garbage.
The WG Daytona is the cheapest used WG Rolex you can buy. Who wants to pay 37 for a watch that is going for 16-18 all day. How does the SS model go for more than a full PM?

Also they used and abused the white gold with too many Arabic dials that nobody lusts for. Most people buy them just because they are the cheapest point of entry for PM.

(Not including the meteorite dial)

I saw the blue dial version of the WG Daytona when they first came out. I didn't like it enough to buy it, but I do like the WG Daytonas with the dark standard dial. In fact I like them so much I am thinking about having one fitted to my WG Daytona which is on a leather strap as well.

Meteorite dial is better looking than the blue dial but that's a special model too. I like to see sub dials have different colors than the watch dial itself. In blue dial model, it's all the same giving a monochromatic look

+1, the Platona is a beautiful watch but the Meteorite dial daytona is the best I've ever seen.

The price is too high imo. There are better options for a gold daytona.
