Magazine theft

There was a great AD in Savannah that gave me all the Rolex magazines editions I did not have (four total). Housekeeping in my hotel took my magazines and I am pretty frustrated about that. It is the holiday inn on bay street. I stay in many IHG hotels for work and have an abundance of rewards points. I will not go back to the AD for more magazines because he was so nice and more than happy to give them to me I feel like this would be a slap in the face. I've never had things so blantantly taken from my room. Venting done.

they obviously mistook them for a daily publication which i guess they are trained to throw out along with newspapers etc..

try asking management if they are still around...if nothing else was taken i doubt they were stolen on purpose

That sucks. Was it just an over zealous house keeper cleaning the room or were they stolen?

Really what it comes down to is a system of processes which allowed me to check into a room which housekeeping was unaware I was in. Hence the items in the room were cleared and set up for the "next guest" even though I was checked into the room, key and all. I have everything and will check back with HK tomorrow regarding the magazines. I did give the manager a bit of an earful regarding the processes which exist to allow this type of miscommunication to occur. It could be much worse than some free magazines if HK keeps clearing rooms with people belongings in them. Luckily I did not have my baggage in the room although that would have likely tipped them off that something was strange.

It sounds like the system of processes that you describe is the issue, not the housekeeers.

Theft in the title was a poor choice of words. Sucks that they threw them out but it doesn't sound like theft.

I had the magazines in my room, people came in, they are gone. I don't care what you think it sounds like. Seems pretty simple to me. Don't like my choice of words don't comment on my thread.

What kind of world would this be if people weren't allowed to voice differing opinions? It was a mistake. You've pointed out the process failure. While it's unfortunate, it's not theft - there was no intent.

Definition of theft
a : the act of stealing; specifically : the felonious taking and removing of personal property with intent to deprive the rightful owner of it

At this point it is unknown whether it is theft or not. You are correct in that I do not know the intent of the pereson(s) involved. Nor do you. The only fact is the hotel currently has holes in their policies. Happy? Damn.

Intent is everything. While it definitely sucks that the magazines were moved, it doesn't sound at all malicious. I think it's OK to acknowledge that additional investigation changed the story line. No need to get nasty.
