Incoming.....the last of the DJ2's 116333.
So I took a trip to my AD today and finally pulled the trigger on a TT DJ2 I'd been considering for the last 18 months.
Now that Rolex has (unbelievably) consigned these models to the history books, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity of letting one get away. I picked it up for a great price and couldn't be happier. Personally I think this watch is a work of art. To me, the proportions are just perfect, despite the feelings of many that they are not true enough to the original DJ36 design, which in my eyes, simply sets it apart as being a fresh modern take on an old design and I'm saddened that this beautiful bold watch has finally fallen victim of its own 'dare to be different' styling. The wide open face, the large baton markers...simply lovely. This one, the TT Ivory dial, is seen little by comparison to the other dial options often seen on the forum, and in my eyes, one of the nicest options they made, even though the others are also beautiful. I think one day, these will likely become desired as they are the only DJ in history to break with tradition, to being bold and to going where no Datejust has gone before. Just glad I've now finally got one in the collection. |

I am sad they are discontinuing the DJII??
I was hoping to make that my next. Oh well. I guess a trusted seller with a used one will get my business in the future. |

Likely the steel models will be next come Basel 17 in March when they release the DJ41 steel models. Don't hang around too long. Just waiting 18 months to buy mine cost me an extra pile of £££ I could have saved had I purchased sooner, but timing is everything! |

Gorgeous watch! I still believe the DJ2 on oyster is the model to own in this range, if the jubilee bracelet was flush like the 36mm version then my opinions would differ. Enjoy yours in good health!

It's always been my favorite! I believe all the naysayers of this watch have never even tried one on.

It's a beauty and I feel the same regarding the DJ2 proportions. It shouldn't be compared the the original as it was never intended to compete. A modern take off from the classic design.
Enjoy it, it looks great on you |

Congrats. Decided the only way I'd give mine up, is if trading up to a DD2.

Great incoming, wear it in good health! I had no idea they were discontinuing the DJ41, I have always admired this line from afar but now might need to source one.

Sharp watch and too bad Rolex had to kill these; they are my favorites.

Congratulations on the pickup she's a beauty!
I didn't know Rolex was discontinuing all of the DJ II's??? I was thinking about trading my DJ II blue stick dial (domed bezel) in towards a sub c date... Maybe I should hang on to it and just save up for the Sub C instead? I'm glad I saw this thread before I shipped mine off. Congrats again on the pickup! |

I feel the same way - it's a great looking watch. The bezel tends to look much larger in photos and on a window display stand than it does on the wrist, especially with the paler dials. It looks very much more in proportion when it's moving around.
As for discontinuation, no-one actually knows until it's announced formally. However dropping half the range at the same time as introducing a very similar new model... the signs aren't looking good... Congratulations - nice purchase! |

Great watch Sir! I've had a 116333 on my mind for a few years now

Great post and huge congrats!
I must admit that I'm in the camp that never really took to the DJ2 preferring the 36mm version but I'm thrilled for you and it would be very boring if we all liked the same things. |
