Datejust 36mm price differential

Hi folks,

I'm in the market for a DJ 36mm at the moment with diamond hour markers (I know, not for everyone but literally my only excuse to ever own diamonds and this would be a formal occasions only watch). Used prices for a 16233 and 16234 seem to be the same (around £4k in the UK) which I think is pretty fair, but curious about the new prices.

The Rolex site has the TT 116233 for £9500 but the white gold and stainless 116234 for around £7400. Any ideas what justifies the the 2k difference? Is it because the links on the bracelet are yellow gold on the TT but just polished steel on the 16234?

Either way I guess it backs up the notion that the Rolex stainless steel options hold price much better than their precious metal counterparts!

I know its personal choice (and budget) but 116234 with diamond dial, SS Jubilee and WG bezel is classic, dressy and very comfortable........got one for my wife last year and I also wear it occasionally. She would only have the concealed clasp on a Jubilee so that ruled out earlier 16234's.
For info, got hers from Blowers (Hull but online) in Sep/Oct for £5k with Rolex warranty to June 2018 as it was new in June 2015 so gets the Rolex 3 year warranty.

Hope you find what you want....

I had been pretty set on a 16233 with champagne diamond dial for a while now, but have recently become interested in the 16234 with silver diamond dial. Ideally I need to see the two of them side by side somewhere. Or just buy them both and pick a favourite later! Unfortunately the 16234 with silver diamond dial doesn't come up often.
