What Was Your First Job & How Old Were You
For me, I worked at Captain Video.
I was 16, and it was my dream job. I remember every detail about the interview and I could not have been more excited. I worked there all throughout high school, and when I would come home for breaks during college. I loved this job. Alas, they have all gone away.

My first job was delivering papers for the Daily Herald (Chicago suburbs). I was 14 and shared the route with my twin brother. It was back when the paper boys still had to collect the payments for their route. I remember we had to get up at 4:45 am and roll the papers and either rubber band or plastic bag them depending on the weather. Go deliver the route. Get home and get on the bus for school with newspaper ink still covering our hands. I have had a job every year since.

Before 16 I cut yards. Enough to save up $2400 to buy my first car at 16.
Then Burger King at 16. They wanted to make me a manager after 4 months (not kidding). I left after 6 months.

My first job was selling Cloverine brand salve door to door. I responded to a back cover ad on a comic book and they sent me cans of salve "on approval." I made 45 a lot of money for me back then I was 10 years old. Next was a paper boy.

I bought and sold stuff on Ebay that I picked up at garage sales as well as lawn care in the summer and snowblowing in the winter. My first job that I paid taxes on was when I was 18 and worked at U of M installing electronics, now I'm a student/pawn broker.

I am 30 years old and run the office side of the family business. I do all estimating, accounting, and customer relations. I have worked here since I was 13 doing all the manual labor jobs within the company and working my way up. Hated it and planned to be an attorney. They talked me into Management and Accounting degrees instead. So, I have worked for the same company for 17 years. The one plus is I can do almost any job within the company and I still get out and drive the big, heavy equipment around when I need a break from the office.

I was probably about 12. Worked during the summer stuffing envelopes for the company where you used to send the bubblegum wrappers. Made 2 cents per envelope. On a good day, I could make $20.

16 Years old. Worked for a company called "Picnic People" that catered company picnics.
Now, about 20 years later, I called them to see about catering my sons birthday. Its amazing how life unfolds. |
