Van Halen booming in 80s with their Album 1984.
That's why I put their name in the poll.

Journey. Kansas. Boston. Pat Benetar. Zeppelin was still making music, weren't they?
And this was the height of the New Wave era in Oklahoma. There's Devo. Flock of Seagulls. The Tubes. Talking Heads. B-52s. All bring back great memories!

And don't forget the Great One Himself: Todd Rundgren and Utopia, which disbanded in the mid-80s.

U2 if we are talking rock bands. Boy (1980) October (1981) War (1983)
The Unforgettable Fire (1984), & best of all The Joshua Tree (1987)
On your list I would have voted AC/DC, but their best stuff came in the earlier years of the seventies.
Liked the emergence of REM. Other band would be New Order.

I like AC/DC in 80s. Back In Black is their BEST Album ever.
Yes, of course I like U2!!! I forget to put 'em in the list...
My favorite Album is Rattle & Hum.
BTW do you know U2 in Christian Rock Band?
Bono said that in his interview with Rock Magazine.

What does Bono not say and have an opinion on, I would take that with a pinch of salt TR

I'm not aware of bands when I was born
But I vote for Metallica, 'fade to black' is one of the
best harmony come to my ears, especially Kirk's melody
