Simplicity
The Oyster Perpetual 36mm is really singing to me lately, particularly in the steel dial. Granted, it doesn't have all of the frills, bells, and whistles. But, that is part of its charm. There is no cyclops, easy link bracelet, or polished center links. But, it flies under the radar with its classic size and well-proportioned baton dial.
I can understand the love for the Sub, Daytona, and GMT. They are great watches. But, I don't think another watch in the lineup pulls off the balance of sportiness and dressiness like the OP 36mm. It is rugged and elegant all at the same time. Plus, the history for the OP is very intriguing...it is the oldest continuing models of Rolex. I know it doesn't get much chatter around the boards, but I am really digging this watch and hope to grab one soon. (Credit to Hodinkee for the image) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Oddly enough, I was just looking at this exact watch on the Rolex site. I'm usually not a fan of 6 digit Rolex watches in general, but I'd probably pick this over most current models. Great looking watch, and the OP is really the first Rolex on top of Everest.

I love the OP line, understated and minimalist! Plus of course it's long history. Particularly fond of the OP39/36 (proportions look more classic than a sub for example).

Great watches. I'm secretly in love with the purple one I got my wife. The finish of the watch and the pop of that dial are excellent. But alas, I need a stinking date.

I have the same watch in the DJ2 because I prefer the 41mm size. Although mine does have the cyclops. Classic looking and sporty. Great choice.

It's a great watch, I bought this one 5 years ago (the earlier models had thinner hands and were hard to read in some conditions, hence changing them for a Sub 16610 handset - much improved legibility and now my daily wearer).
My nephew bought the one you're looking at, it's superb, I would do it. |

It's a great watch. I bought my wife the exact model you've got pictured with the red grape dial.
Very unassuming watch, then when you strap it on, it really comes to life. |

It is about as clean a three hand you will find but is 36mm big enough for you?

I was walking by an AD last night, this very watch was in the window display. It really looks better in person, I had to go back a second time just to look at it. So clean and simple.

I have a subc and very tempted to add that exact watch. It's a simple design executed to perfection, paired with the Rolex quality.

Hey Blingtone, I think you made a perfect watch there!
I love the blue sunburst dial, Arabic numerals and sub hands. PM me some details if you don't mind! |

I've just put a deposit down on one of these, easily the best-looking watch Rolex makes (IMHO). Also the cheapest. Result! Should be with me next week...

Yes, that's a great picture. My OP 39 has arrived and is on my wrist as I type. It's absolutely gorgeous in every detail, a really flawless and beautiful thing. It looks way, way more expensive than it is (the opposite to my 16610). A very strong recommendation and great value.
I'll try to get some decent pics tomorrow, but don't expect anything like that photo above! |

..and didn't they just?
Non-fat lugs, check. No cyclops, check. No PCLs, check. No bling whatsoever, check. Beautiful sunburst dial, check. Hour markers that appear black from some angles, while a second glance reveals them to be mirror-polished, check. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I tried on the OP 39 red grape as well as the blue today (at a second AD). The blue pips it for me, but the grape is totally stunning as well. They gave me 6% without me even asking, so thumbs-up to the lovely AD ladies, too. |

OP, I agree about the OP. You said it well --- all good points. I am a bit biased . . .

I cannot stand the double indexes at 3-6-9. Just clutters an already pretty tight dial, imo. If it was single index like the OP 39, I would have already bought one, cause I also absolutely love the simplicity. As it stands I greatly prefer the arabic 3-6-9 style or the OP 39, both in blue.
