Motivation to post more on the forum.

Hi all,

Every time I log in TRF, which is pretty much every day, I feel motivated to take the time to post comments and pieces of advice to my fellow WIS. Although I am not a bona fide connoisseur and English is not my mother tongue, I really like the community and all the valuable information I can find in here.

Also, I found that every time I had a question or a concern, people were always available and have showed me lots of support; therefore, I would like to contribute more and give back.

That being said, more often than not, after reading all the comments and insight that had already been given, I just skim through without taking the time to post anything. My mindset is that one more comment won't make any difference or will it even make a difference? Will the OP acknowledge what I said? I might be overthinking that one, but was just curious to learn more on people's approach.

I just joined recently and don't have that many posts compared to how much time I spend in here. I really am impressed by people with more than a couple thousand posts or more. So if you recognize yourself out there, could you tell me what makes you strive to be so consistent and involved. Is it a challenge? Are you trying to reach a certain number of posts? Are you genuinely so passionate about Rolex that it is a pleasure for you to chime in all the time? All I can say is that I take my hat off to you.

My post is maybe plain stupid but I get caught in the same circle day after day. Will I break it? I guess I could be one of the most active members since I am semi-retired and have a lot of free time.

Best,

Vin

The trick is not coffee but Bloody Mary.

One word at a time Vin....one word at a time.

I will be in Vietnam in the next few months - I'll buy you a beer.

I had a look through your post of the sellers over there.

I'm sure that was a clever response Vin but I can't see Mon's posts or any of his mate's posts.

I will pm you my hotel details.

We will be in Hanoi and Ha Long (Vinpearl) for a week or so after Singapore.

I'm thinking Daytona and GMT TTc for the trip.

Is it safe to wear etc?.....

What are you going to do now that you have filled up that last spot in your photo signature?? Add a couple squares LOL??? You have a serious collection there. Congrats!!

As per which watch to wear, I wouldn't be worried as Vietnam is way safer than for instance Thailand or Malaysia. People wouldn't even notice your watch. Moreover, with all the replicas that they sell over here, it is easy to blend in. No arms have been chopped with machetes as far as I know haha!!!
Make sure you don't leave your watches unattended in the hotel room unless it is a well established chain with many stars. Safe included!! LOL

I would however, consider something rugged for the trip as you don't want to scratch it too much during your excursions.

Best,

Vin

I've never been to VN, but several colleagues went there for tourism. They said they felt safer there than back home (US and UK). It's on my bucket list.

Will you be diving in Ha Long?

If someone already posted your thoughts you can agree with them. It is kinda like voting. Which is more popular? The poster may (or may not) be looking for reassurance in his thoughts and the more she/he hears the better. We are really good at pushing people to buy watches, so don't ask unless you want to buy!!!! ;-)

I just enjoy it here. I post slowly over longer periods of time. Some people are marathon sprinters (mon, jocke, etc). They must enjoy typing!!!! J/k I like reading their banter.

It's really only this forum, I'm on a couple of others but only have a few hundred posts, the members here are friendly, smart, mature but want to have a laugh, and as we get to know each other we genuinely are happy for each other when one has an incoming or good news, something that I thought was ridiculous to feel for internet-strangers when I joined, but it turns out to be true.

I enjoy the camaraderie here very much. You get to know people without having met them in person although that happens quite often as well.
You get to share both the good times when children are born or there's an incoming as well as the bad when members have health issues or pets and other family members pass on. It really is an extended family and I'm retired so I have plenty of time to engage.

Hey Vin, you're really not indoctrinated into the forum until you post an incoming thread. Hint hint.

I think you can feel free to chime in and add your opinion particularly if someone is asking for it. And besides if no one chimes in their would be no discussion and pointless to be reading.

Hi Vin -- I think you should feel free to share your ideas. Even if no one directly responds to your post, plenty of people will still read and appreciate it.

Some members do seem to perceive disagreement as a personal slight. Fortunately, these folks are a minority and are (usually) moderated

Hi Vin.

I'll often read threads but not post anything. There's no prizes for higher post counts.

This is the only form of social media I have and watches are my greatest passion which brings me to log in day in day out.

It is the friendliest online group of people you could ever wish to meet and the thing that I find truly wonderful is that there are members here with the most mind blowing collections worth hundreds of thousands of pounds yet they are truly excited when someone receives an incoming regardless of value. I like that
