My new INVISIBLE & TRANSPARENT Rolex!!!

Hi guys

I picked up my new GMTIc last Friday.

Like most of you, I bought it for a number of reasons, some of which are...
a. the pleasure it would give me
b. as a reward to myself
c. I have always wanted a Rolex
d. admiration of the quality and skill in manufacture
e. iconic design
f. something of quality that can be passed on to my kids
etc etc

but I did NOT buy it to make a "statement" about any perceived wealth or to show off or some such.

When I turned up for work on Monday with my new Rolex I was a little self-concious (summer here, so T-shirts only!). I own my own business, so I try to be discreet about my little "indulgences" in front of employees and clients...

Anyway, it's now 3 days later, and no-one has noticed!!! I needn't have worried, I just go about my business, I don't have to try and cross my arms and hide it under my forearm when speaking to someone. Funny thing is, the girls even "ribbed" me about getting a new Rolex recently... just goes to show the SS models really are stealth.

The best part is the ONLY person who has noticed and said anything is my 3½ year old daughter!!! As soon as I came home with it, she looked directly at my wrist and said "nice watch" . Laughed so hard I nearly shat. I have a 3½ year old WIS!!! I asked her why she liked it, and she said she likes the numbers (pointing to the bezel), they're BIG!

Anyway, posts are nothing without the obligatory pics, so here is my new "stealth" GMTIIc

Hahaha, pretty neat, don't be afraid. Where it with pride. Remember all the reasons you made the purchase. There is no reason to hide your wisdom and taste.

Doesn't anyone see the lume? Sheesh!

......................................

Now that I take a second look, the lume looks a little patina'd almost brown. Almost freckleish!

Tell that dang rabbit to get out of the shot! Sheesh!

The way I see it is you worked for it, you bought it, so enjoy it.

It's just a steel watch, who cares what anyone, particularly employees (to whom you pay a living) think, or are the employees really controlling the employer

Great story! Enjoy your watch, no-one seems ever to notice. I am aware of what I am wearing when meeting clients, but insofar it seems to be an issue for me only... it is a bigger issue to show up properly dressed, or in a car that is friendly to the environment... I guess that could be more of an issue for you driving that Porsche... actually I have a client that stopped negotiations of a contract with another firm when their CEO showed up in a Cayenne. That firm have a STRONG environmental policy, to say the least. (This said I wouldn't not mind driving a Porsche...)

BTW my eight year old daughter prefers my Explorer II for two reasons: The numbers on the bezel, and the RED hand, my four year old daughter likes the Explorer (I) for one reason only: BLACK dial, that goes so well with her current favourite outfit: Black jeans, black t-shirt and golden sneakers ;-)

Thanks for sharing your story, and please... "dress" yourself properly...

Best,

A

Hi Tim

I love the lume on that watch... but tell me...

- how did you get such a clear pic?
- what camera are you using?
