If you were going to the beach on a family vacation would you wear a Sub or BLNR?

I'm curious to those that own both Sub and GMT if you were taking a family vacation to the beach, what watch would you wear? The Sub seems like the obvious choice but does the 100WR of the BLNR really effect you swimming in the surf or pool with your family?? So what watch goes with you???? Sub could include SS, TT, or PM.

I take my BLNR since I rarely go more than 3 meters under the water.

Sub for the brushed center links - works a little better in casual wear

Mystro, it's a submariner. It's meant for the sea. You are going to the sea. Since both of those watches are fine in either condition (assuming you don't go diving), I'd assume you're thinking of what is more appropriate as you stated. The submariner is the obvious choice. Or be daring and rotate both

Yea, I agree but I wonder how much owners of both struggle over the choice as they over lap their practical capabilities on normal family water activities on a vacation. This almost boils down to unless you are actually going on a serious dive, the BNLR will work every bit as good as the Sub even snorkeling.

No, but there are almost identical watches, both of which will survive sport diving.

Take your favourite, or both.

I guess the sand could scratch the PCLs... but I would still take the BLNR

Depends which sub , but it really shouldn't matter as
all Rolex sport watches are robust . That being said, one should
use common sense ... I have both the BLNR and Bluesy Sub C.
I'd probably take my Sub as Blue dials and Sunshine are a
perfect fit... Hand in glove if you will ...

The beach is no place for PCL's and next to the Explorer a Sub is a perfect all around vacation Rolex IMO.

The only watch that goes with me to the beach is a brushed steel Mondaine on nato.

Waterproofness at shore isn't going to be an issue on really any modern Rolex (sans Celini) just looking at the sand will give any polished surface some really nasty hairline scratches which for me is a pain.

As some fears to scratch PCLs, there are so many alternatives for a "summer" strap for the BLNR that's it's not an issue
