That was a fun summary to read and I quite liked the timeline poster.

Thanks for the link! I'm tempted to print out the timeline poster and hang it up somewhere.

Hello

For the past two weeks I have been working on the high-res file of the Panerai timeline.

The new infographic is 150 cm x 85 cm (59 x 33 inch) and will be printed on a latex-based paper with matte lamination.

The will be two versions, a regular print and a limited edition of 50 pieces, numbered and with Maria Abetti Panerai's signature. I will travel to Florence in May and personally bring her the prints. maria will get a share of the sale.

Head over to my blog for more information:

Awesome info!

Interesting to see the very early editions of the 3646 Type A & B had closed 6 and 9's on the dial.

It wasn't until the later Type C was produced that the first incarnation of the more familiar open 6's & 9's that we see today.

I must say hats off to Panerai - the watches they produce today are so close to the originals they are modelled on.

-that no.3 on the type A is so nice

Indeed, the construction of the early dials was completely different.

Rivet plastic dials

Aluminium sandwich dials

Here you can read everything there is to know about vintage Panerai dials.

Thank you Jose...what a brilliant reference point.

I especially like the 6152/1 'Marine Militare' dial from 1960 as I am fortunate to own the 2016 re issue Pam 673
