Is it OK to wear my Rolex?????????????

WATER = NO NO NO
I know you can't wear them in the water, shower, or god forbid, ocean.

SPORT = NO NO NO
You can't wear it whilst doing any kind of physical activity, even golf (apparently the swinging motion causes havoc with the movement)

DRIVING = NO NO NO
I have also heard driving a car could do harm. The centrifugal forces when accelerating, braking and going around corners put's lateral stress on the delicate "blue" Parachrom spring

WRIST = ???
Is it Ok to WEAR my Rolex? On my wrist?
I read a recent post that over time, fingerprints could corrode the steel.

I am afraid to take my Rolex out of the humidity controlled safe, unwrap it from it's cotton wool, and look at it, in case exposure to the pollution in the air may cause it to disintegrate. I have looked on eBay to to find a pressure-sealed glass case, so I can at least have my Rolex on display for others to admire.

Has anybody actually WORN their Rolex???
Does anybody know if this is true, or is it just a myth???

I wore mine once, but I had to send it in for service to remove the scratches.

I once heard this crazy story where this guy actually wore his on a regular basis but I refuse to beleive that anyone could be so irresponsible. Can you imagine the possibilities. I mean don't these people get it!?

Gosh, not this old myth again...
"Wearing" a Rolex? Please... make sure all of the plastic protection is intact (the RSC can quote you for a "plastics service" if you are not confident to do this yourself) and get it back in the safe quick...

I love my Rolex collection but, I share your concerns... I only wear my Casio as it is inexepensively replaced.

I also worry about acid rain. I live in So. Cal - Sadly, there is a lot of pollution in the area. If a drop of polluted - acidic rain were to fall and ever so dampen the crystal or the Steel Bracelet - I worry that it will burn through and destroy the movement.

A WIS on this board did tell me the plastic bag trick - and yes, that is a great way to protect my Rolex (Thank you!) But, Plastic just does not always go with my suit and tie - I get strange looks when arriving and leaving business meetings.

All, wear these beautiful watches carefully. Think about your investment before you get too crazy and just wear them anywear and ALWAYS check the forecast. Rain can really spoil your day and ultimately ruin your Rolex.

I keep mine wrapped in cotton wool in it is box which I have sealed in several hundred layers of bubble wrap and placed in a safety deposit box in an underground vault at the Bank of England. You just can't be to careful.

I tried to adjust the time on it once. God, that was wreckless - I swear the hands nearly fell off.

I was so afraid to buy a Rolex that I took the wad of cash that I would have spent on one, and put it in a glass case with a sign over it indicating that "this is my Rolex"

By doing this I alleviate a considerable amount of Rolex ownership stress, and my freinds and confederates can plainly see that I have enough cash to actually buy one and not just talk about it.

I've seen it all now. Have to admit that the concept of a Titanic watch is not one that fills me with an enormous amount of confidence. This is avant garde haute horrology at it's most extreme and, probably, expensive. I've got that sinking feeling

You can get the Titanic watch wet. Just keep it away from ice cubes.

I had my Deepsea on yesterday while out shopping. It started to rain so I covered it with the sleeve of my jumper to prevent it getting wet ( this is true ). I had better put it back in it's box until next summer.

What are you guys talking about?

I wore my Plat. DD Masterpiece all day yesterday during a Motocross race. The diamond dial actually blinded the guy in front of me (when I was clearing a jump) and let me get into 1st place! Still within COSC spec.

They are meant to be viewed not worn! It is like in a art gallery. Do not touch!

I pamper mine so much that I make sure that it is under my sleeve all the time and cover it with my hand when someone walks pass afraid that he will bump into it causing the crystal and case to disintegrate. After some close shaves it is back in my humidity controlled case set to the correct temperature, wrapped with protective cotton wool.

Icon10 ?

Never wore any of mine. I took pictures of them...........and cut them out......and then placed a string on each end of the photo and put it around my wrist. I never had any fears of going to the bad sides of town with it on.

I forgot to ask the AD how to put them on.

I have seen plenty of people wearing them but it beats me how they worked it all out. even the manaula has nothing about putting the darn things on.

Actually, I've been in luck with my Rolex photo. Twice each day, the photo displays the correct time.

8:10 a.m.

8:10 p.m.

But I still cannot figure out the date though. I can't get the damn date on my Rolex Photo to be correct more than once a month. Does anyone have any suggestions on the date function???? I am so flustered.

Well, you could take 31 photos, one of each date setting. A real WIS would actually take 1,440 (1 for each minute during a 24 hr cycle) x 31 = 44,640 photos ...but then it might get a bit tedious swapping them on & off your wrist...

Buy an Explorer and only wear it on the third of every month

You are not supposed to take any of the stickers off of the watch. It's kind of like the mattress police checking to see if the tags are still on your mattress and the heavy fines that can be imposed if you take off the tag.

I'd hate to see any of my TRF buddies going to jail or prison for removing the tags off of their watches.

I had a solution for not damaging my watch. I took it to an Authorized Dealer and let him damage it for me.

I sent my watch off on Saturday for the new case. I'm going to get my watch back looking like brand new again.

Funny Thread.
