The "right" piece. Well worth the wait.
Friday was a curiously weird day for me. Although, I am from Portland so I guess that makes it a typical day. I've had some serious issues with my Tudor Black Bay that came to a head on Friday (that's for an entirely different thread, I'm still debating if I want to post about it). I've been doing research for over a year on finding a watch that can be my MAIN watch. Meaning, the watch I want to spend most of my time with for the foreseeable future. I've owned lots of quality watches over the years but I've been whittling my collection down to 2 or 3 pieces. I wanted something versatile, robust, reliable, visually appealing, and most of all, comfortable on the wrist. I'm not the kind of guy that needs or wants a bunch of watches, 2 or 3 will do, but they have to be the right pieces. Over the past year I've read everything I could get my hands on, listened to podcasts, watched countless hours of YouTube videos, and visited multiple ADs trying on various pieces to find the one that met my criteria.
The watch that kept singing to me over and over again was the Sub. My biggest dilemma was do I want a 5 digit or a 6 digit Sub? On Friday I made my decision. I walked into my local AD and walked out minutes later with this gorgeous piece (below). No buyers remorse, no concerns, no looking back. My collection is now 2 stunning pieces. The Rolex Submariner 116610LN and the 2016 hesalite Speedy Pro Big Box edition. I'm in my early 30s so these two pieces should last me a lifetime if I chose to keep them that long. Maybe later in life I'll add a 36mm Datejust or DayDate but for now I'm perfectly content. The journey to get here was as much fun as actually waking in and buying the Sub. I have no regrets buying new, and given the issues with my Tudor and how well my AD took care of me in that situation there was no other place I would have rather purchased a Sub. I've learned a ton and feel like I made the right choice for me based on what I want and like and not for any other reason. Man oh man, what a watch. |

Congratulations!!! These are the iconic and timeless choices...
Though I have slightly more than the 2 you kept (from my signature), if I was to downsize to 2 watches it would be the SubC and the speedy pro! We think alike Enjoy it as I do! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
