Am I crazy? Trading a 116710 to go back to a 16610

Hi Everybody, wondering if anyone else has gone from a GMT Ceramic or SubC back to the older versions. I'm thinking of making this trade (hopefully with some cash coming my way).

I originally traded a 16610 for the 116710 last Fall and have been missing my old Sub ever since. I'm thinking that means I need to go back.

The crazy thing would be to keep something you're not completely satisfied with.

We all like different things, so just go for it. I never thought I'd trade my SubDate for an Exp II, and it's the only watch I've worn since.

Not crazy at all.

I wouldn't count on any money coming your way Infact, you'll most likely have to add funds for a decent example

Agreed. The aluminum bezels pricing is going to where it should be. Up. They’re bangers. I totally support a trade for a preceramic sub!!

Went from 114060 >>> 14060!!! Been there and done that; I can happily live with the non-C!!! Much prefer the 14060.

Personally, I wouldn't be able to go back to the older bracelet.

I love so many older and vintage references, but I can't get over how insubstantial the bracelets and clasps feel. I admit I wish it didn't bother me.

It's never too late.....just swap the watch if you're not feeling it. I would just have reservations when it's a hot piece that's still going up in value...then you have to think more carefully.....not the case here.

Like trading a perfect steak for another perfect steak. Both great timeless watches. Wear what makes you smile.

I went 16610 to 116710 to 116610 and I love the new SubC date.

The GMT for me was too busy, especially the bezel and I found the functionality in today's world, where I can use my cell to tell time back home.

Am I crazy? Trading a 116710 to go back to a 16610

I had 116610, sold it after 2 years as it never did it for me. The watch has was a major disappointment when I had always wanted a Sub but it was the wrong Sub.

Bought a BLNR and wore that for a year, still have it and prefer the slightly narrower lugs over the SubC.

Bought a nos 16610 about three weeks ago as an impulse buy with the blessing of the missus. It is the watch I always wanted.

The BLNR will go now I think as i feel it is too bulky and big and blingy against the Sub.

I will be left with the 16610 and a white dial DaytonaC. I will then add an Explorer or OP red grape I think.

Those ceramic watches are just too over the top for me.

Go for it. Why not? The 16610 is the ultimate classic Rolex.

I wouldn't, 5 digits are looking less apealing to me every day.

I would take that 5 digit Submariner all day long over the current generation GMT.

I would for sure and opposite of Neil 6 digits are looking less appealing to me every day. I love my 5 digits and to me they are perfect! So yes go for it - why not!

Totally agree except for watches which weren't made in 5 digits!

love the 5 Digit watches. The only 6 Digit watch I truly love unabashedly in the Exp II. I wish you could use the bracelets on the 6 on the 5's bec I think they are simply nicer looking watches. I would go back if you aren't happy.

Have 116610 and 16610, currently am wearing only the five digit submariner. Though the ceramic version looks more attractive, it doesn't look like a watch to my eyes. I don't have 116710 but I can tell you, even if I do, I would still prefer 16610 over it. I think the only other five digit ref that comes close to it or equals it is 16710

I think the 16610/16710/16570 triplets will be missed more and more as time passes, since they were essentially the same tool watches where you "pick your function." It just depends what you want. I mean, I actually traded my 16610 in for a 16570, which would be heresy on this forum.

Agreed, with its white dial, 16570 serves as a good change up .

A month ago I considered flipping a 116610LV for a 116710LN. After a few days I came to my senses and flipped the LVC for a pristine and complete set 16610LN. I couldn't be happier

The other two serious choices were a 16600 and 4 Line 14060M...which I love

I agree with your thoughts on the triplets I also don't think you're crazy for the flip you made. I've considered the 16570'a few times. I actually love that reference. I use the bezel to time things more than I do a second time zone. One never knows though

I did. Most 6 digit references have disproportionate watch cases with the over sized lugs. The right way to make a bigger watch is with the new 43MM Sea Dweller. Notice how the lugs are not over sized and with wider bracelet.
